pre-workout energy drink?
« on: December 01, 2007, 06:35:16 AM »
i usually drink a sugar-free redbull before i work out, just because it helps keep me going a little bit. i always see "redline" and all these other pre-workout drinks at the gym but have never tried any. are they any good/better than redbull and is there a way to  buy them in bulk for cheap if i find one i like?

well, redline has much higher caffiene content than red bull does, and it also contains a bunch of yohimbe extract. spike is another one with a really high caffiene+yohimbe content. that seems to be what works best as far as whats available... but i really dont get a good buzz from any of the energy drinks, at least not unless i drink a couple of them really quickly.

I  have to agree Spike by biotest is really good.

Also u can drink a cup of coffee, it will do the same thing for a much cheaper price.

What's wrong with drinking a cup of coffee or two a half hour or so before training?

Exactly. Give me coffee anyday over those energy drinks.
No doubt about it...

Red Bull never gave me much – maybe not enough caffeine.
I agree with the coffee drinkers here. That’s usually my first choice.
I like the antioxidants in it as well.

But when coffee is not an option for whatever reason, I will grab a bottle of ABB Speed Shot. I always have about half a case in my fridge to keep cold.

I actually tried this and it is an excellent product.  I have ordered my second batch (not just samples) and am just waiting for delivery.  Great stuff.

Sugar-Free Redbull tastes awfull, but Low-carb Monster is very good. A 16 oz can has only 20 calories and 6 grams of sugar, which is nothing, especially pre-workout. Monster is about the same price as Redbull, for twice the size of can. But if you live near a Costco, a case of 24 is about $25, much cheaper than any energy drink at a normal store.

The Low-Carb Monster has the blue M on it, and it's also great for Jager, Cherry, or Grape Bombs. ;D

if you want agood tatse, then nothing comes within a fucking million miles of sugar free sobe adrenaline rush. its blueberry, and its fucking  DELICIOUS. it tastes btter than anydrink i have ever tasted...but it really doesnt do shit for energy levels; so buying it for the energy effects really isnt that smart unless you are one of those people sensitive to caffiene, because it only has like twice as much as a soda.

I just watch videos of kittens and puppies being fried up in Vietnamese pans for dinner right before I work out.  That gets me fired up plenty.

this is gross, but if i was staying up late to study back in college, i'd put some coffee in my lip, like it was dip...

anyway, yeah, the coffee in the shake thing is decent.
