Why do people make claims like that?  Serious question.  What is the psychology that would motivate someone to make such an outrageous claim?  Any thoughts?

Being objective I would say the guy in the picture above would be lucky to rep a single with 225 lbs with a spotter.

His shoulder width is simply too narrow.
