no gear = no motivation
« on: December 07, 2007, 06:58:17 AM »
Ok so fro the past few months (since end of august)
I've been using the smallest things as an excuse to not work out... i also have been clean since
March  and i dont seem to be motivated to go to the GYM
i tried to set up a cycle to start in Sept but work and family got in the way and i decided to hold on
Now im planning on starting a Cycle in January this way i will pretty much will be forced to work out no matter what
Am i alone here?

it might be the holidays after all ... it is the season to be Shloppy

dude, challenge yourself. if you can maintain the amount you lifted (of close to it while on) you are doing good and not stepping backwards.

use the "off" time to maintain as much as you can before going "on" again.

ive sufferd similar experiences,,, best way to get over it is to try somthign new for a few weeks, high volume if your a HIT bloke, HIT if your a volumer, or even a change of gym... just get back to enjoying bein in the gym

for me it was great goin back to doin daft things like 30 sets for biceps, compared to my usual 3

Dont be S.A.D = Seasonal Affective Dissorder....lots of people get a bit less motivated this time of year.  :'(

Like Overload said, time to man up and push thru. I know for me, I recently switched up my training because I wanted something fresh to motivate me again. Not training to total failure and a few new principles (rest pause, drops, etc).

Sometimes a change of gyms for fresher scenery is a good boost as well.

no gear + no motivation = mental addiction

you got 3 choices:

1) take gear year round

2) get your head out of the juice and back in the game

3) find something else to do....like fishing

(hint) go with #2 ;)

My advice, sit down and ask yourself why you train in the first place. If you don't have a good answer, then maybe it's time to reevaluate.

At this point, lay out some goals for yourself...give yourself a reason to train...something that will motivate you to continue training, gear or no gear.

If you assess your situation and come up with goals like "I want to look good" or "I want to get girls" these are probably not the kind of goals that are going to make you stick to it long term.

Nothing wrong with wanting to look good...anyone who trains regularly has this in their mind...but their has to be more IMO. If this was reason enough to train, we wouldn't have so many out of shape people walking the streets.

If your reason for training is simply to impress the opposite sex, again, not the best approach. Guys who train who make this aspect their top priority almost always flake out in the long run. Again, nothing wrong with wanting to look good, nothing wrong with wanting to look good so you have more appeal...but there has to be something there, some set purpose for yourself, no one else...if you're going to stick to this.

Last off, if you want motivation, you're going to have to find this yourself...no one can motivate someone else. Sure, certain people can aid in motivating you, I've got people in my life that are motivating factors for certain things and certain aspects in my own life...but these things are just motivational factors....they are not the core of what makes up my motivation to train.

i'm also feelin slack today.... :( supposed to be chest day....3 sets for 5 exercises..

so what i'm gonna do is pick myself up, go to the gym and slam 5 sets of 5 exercises

just so that the "pussy factor" is wiped out ;)

best way to counter the slack is work it off!

Training hard, eating right even while off is what separates the men from the boys, the hardcore from the posers.

i've never used gear, probably won't until I'm old and HRT is an issue.

But without caffeine, I find it hard to lift.  I can only imagine after using gear, how much it would suck without it.

Good pct works for me. My libido is exactly the same after/during a cycle, and i'm allways motivated. Also make sure to follow the "time on = time off" rule

If you are getting physically addicted to a.s. it's time to stop using it. You dont want to become a junkie.

I'm not implying that you don't know what's going on by any means...not at all. But I don't care who you are or how great your PCT is, you should notice a significant change after the cycle.

Physically addicted....not possible...mentally, to an extent, sure.

"Time on = Time off Rule" Not a rule, a suggestion by many...a good suggestion for a lot of people to follow...not all though.

Yupper.... A look at that chart of how long TE takes to clear is a good little wake up call to alots of dudes...
They have been on years long and think they are "Cycling". Not so, they's never been off.
Fine if they know that.... Many are clueless.
