Stomach problems with Waxy Maize??
« on: December 07, 2007, 12:56:33 PM »
I've used Pure Vitargo for quite sometime with great results but recently decided to switch to Waxy Maize.  Problem is, a few hours after drinking it I get some abdominal discomfort and terrible gas.  Has anyone else had this problem?

I've never had that problem. In fact I have less problems with Waxy Maize.

No problems at all...love both Vitargo and Waxy. Much better than the old gut bomb of dextrose and maltodextrin.

What are you mixing with it (any other supps, whey or glutamine or creatine mono) and how much (40, 50, 100 g)??

I haven't been mixing anything with it.  I use two scoops right after my workout then about twenty minutes later I have a protein shake (Syntha 6 by BSN).  The WM and Vitargo work really well for me so I would love to be able to continue using them.  When I ordered it I had them mix their protease enzyme and their vitamin/mineral mix.  The only thing I can think of is if the vitamin/mineral mix has some iodine in it which I'm allergic to.  Most multi-vitamins do have iodine.  Any ideas?

That should be about 80g. of carbs so if that never upset you stomach before, might be the iodine. They should have given you a list of what vitamin and minerals they put in, no?? Might be the iodine, I would ask the company what they put in.

Syntha 6 is a blended protein with more carbs and fats (slow digestion), not the best post workout. Straight whey is best pwo because of the fast digestion.

My pwo (within 15 minutes after my w/o) = 40g. Waxy, 45g. Whey Isolate...eat 1 hour later, protein and carb meal.

Did you always have the protein shake after?
Maybe pull that out and see if you still get a stomach ache.
