Who here would fight these guys?  Personally I'm not scared of these MMA guys.  As far as I'm concerned they are just normal people.  When it comes to young fit/strong men fighting each other, I think mentality matters more than anything.

forget about mma guys step into a muay thai ring then move on to mma. you'll get bombarded with kicks punches and kness. you would not know what to do.

I'm serious when I first started out in muay thai and had a few sparring sessions I was fucked. Had alot to learn, once you know what you are doing it's easy.

Skill is very important. Even against the strongest guys. If you can land so many punches and kicks in a moments notice and still be able to get away as soon as possible. your good.

Even with boxing guys that would be very tough.

What do you mean about "fighting shape", as in the type of training/conditioning these guys are used to?  It is no joke that regular meathead type guys will get into bar fights with these guys and beat them.

yes it is a joke, where are you getting this ???

if you aren't used to fighting, punching the heavy bag for 30 seconds will tire you out

if you want to see meatheads fight a "regular guy" look up mark coleman or kevin randleman's fight with fedor, you'll see how TRAINED "meatheads" do against a seemingly "regular guy"

and about mentality, a guy who actually is willing to get in the cage will have a better fighter's mentality than some joe blow in a bar just trying to impress some random bar skank

another thing if you're just a stand up guy (muay thai, boxing) or no training at all and a fight goes to the ground. It's better to have a ground game like BJJ so you know how to pop his arm out of his socket or his leg end it as soon as possible and get away if you have no other choice.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that some strong meathead type guy would win every time, what I'm saying is there are plenty of cases where a normal fit/strong aggressive young man will fight a trained fighter and win.  I'm also not saying this is the norm, but I'm saying it does happen.  Like I said, sometimes it comes down to motivation/psyche beyond mere training specificity.

Mike Tyson VS. Randy Couture.  Discuss.

what cases?

if a guy is trained that doesn't necessarily mean he's good?

if you hit a guy in the groin or sucker punch him it won't matter how skilled he is

I think it was toopowerful4u who said he worked in a bar and this type of thing would happen a lot and he never had a problem handling these MMA types.  There were about three separate users with similar user names on musclemayhem so it might be a different guy.  toobig4u or toolarge4u or something maybe, lol.

I always view couture as a wrestler so I think tyson would be able to knock him out.

If it's going to be a hypothetical matchup we'll make it tyson vs. fedor and I would take fedor for the win.

Ok, that finalises it then, go setup the wikipedia page.... ::) , more than likely the guy is bigging himself up and is talking about the 150 pound 18yr olds who wear tapout shirts because they once watched a UFC fight on PPV.

You just destroyed every shred of credibility you had on this topic. So a guy on an internet forum told you he beat up people in a bar? Great thought process.

By the way, it's pretty big news that Aleks Emelianenko was in a bar fight last week. Guy's far from being the best fighter on the planet he beat the shit out of 3 guys by himself.  ::)

Said like a true weakling.  I have never heard so much bullshit in my life.  if you have ever seen a great trained fighter in action you will redefine your definition of tough.  Do you think boxers dont get sucker punched or hit in the groin.  Boxing is a dirty game, Ears get bitten off, Nuts get smashed, kidneys damaged for life and people die.  Stick to discussing fags in undies pretending to be tough, like Nasser for instance.

PRIDE veteran Aleksander Emelianenko got into a bar fight in Moscow last night. According to ValeTudo.ru, Aleksander was in the company of two female companions last night when a group of intoxicated men at a nearby table began to get loud and rowdy. The table of drunk men then proceeded to direct some “inappropriate” remarks at Aleksander’s female cohorts. Aleksander, being the great man that he is, decided to stand up for the two ladies. He approached the table of hoodlums and shortly after, a fight erupted. Several chairs were thrown, and almost immediately the thugs realized they picked a fight with the wrong guy. Before long the hoodlums were screaming and crying for help.

At this point, security officials rushed to scene and handcuffed Aleksander, mistaking him for the culprit. While detained, Aleksander gave his account of the story at which point in time the officials realized that they had taken the wrong guy. After 20 minutes of being held captive, Aleksander Emelianenko was released and even offered to be escorted back to his hotel to which the gentle giant refused.

E - I almost get this impression that you think strength doesn't matter.  Muscle SIZE obviously isn't helpful in a fight, but sheer brute strength and good cardio is very helpful.  Also, he is not just some internet tough guy, but someone who has worked in security for years and gotten into many bar fights and had serious strength (405 for 17 for deadlift).

For years I thought that karate was a useful skill until I found it was literally the least successful skill in the UFC and that grapplers had the greatest success.

Put another way: if both parties have equal skill, the stronger one will win, if both are equally strong, the more skilled one will win.  If one is skilled, but the other is strong and in great shape, then it's not so simple to determine who will win.  Lots of people have fighting skills but are fat or otherwise out of shape and almost useless because of that (I'm not saying the average MMA guy falls into this category).

It all starts with conditioning, try holding your arms up, fist at cheeckbones, elbows in, then throw punches just in to air, youll see how unnatural it feels and how quickly youll get gassed out if you havnt put in any roadwork/skipping etc.Average Joe would throw 2 punches in a bar fight and be gassed out.
