Pastor: Cop told fourth wife he killed third wife
« on: December 11, 2007, 10:46:16 AM »
This one does not pass the smell test.  Looks like another Scott Peterson.  Ironic that this guy has the same last name.  These idiots never cease to amaze.  They don't appreciate that the national media may pick on the fact they want to kill their wives and then comb every detail of the "disappearance" and/or death.

Another instance of the media cherry picking this kind of story.

Pastor: Cop told fourth wife he killed third wife

BOLINGBROOK, Illinois (AP) -- A former police officer's missing wife once confided in a pastor that her husband admitted killing his third wife, the pastor said.

Former Illinois police officer Drew Peterson is considered a suspect in the disappearance of his fourth wife.

Former Westbrook Christian Church pastor Neil Schori told Fox News Channel's Greta Van Susteren in an interview broadcast Monday that Stacy Peterson told him in August that her husband, Drew Peterson, admitted killing his previous wife, Kathleen Savio.

Schori said he asked Stacy Peterson, Drew Peterson's fourth wife, to clarify what she had said and she responded, "'He killed Kathleen."' Schori said the conversation occurred when he and Stacy Peterson met at a coffee shop.

Savio's body was found in her bathtub in 2004 and her death initially was ruled an accidental drowning. After Stacy Peterson disappeared in October, prosecutors opened another investigation into the Savio case, and said it appears her death was a homicide staged to look like an accident. Drew Peterson has not been named a suspect in her death.

Stacy Peterson offered enough detail to be credible, said Schori, who declined to discuss the details in the interview.

"But it was very clear that this was not just speculation," he said. "She was not jumping to conclusions."

Joel Brodsky, Peterson's attorney, did not immediately return an after-hours phone message seeking comment from The Associated Press. But he said on the Fox program that "I'd love to get to cross-examine (Schori) because there are a lot of problems with his story."

Schori said he thought Stacy Peterson never shared the information about Savio with police. Asked why Stacy Peterson chose to stay with her husband after learning about his former wife's death, Schori said, "My guess would be out of fear."

Although he has not been arrested or charged, Drew Peterson, 53, has been named a suspect in Stacy Peterson's disappearance by Illinois State Police, who have labeled the case a possible homicide.

Stacy Peterson was last seen October 28 and was reported missing by her family the next day. Drew Peterson, a member of the Bolingbrook Police Department until he quit after his wife went missing, has denied any involvement in her disappearance. He has said he believes his wife left him for another man and is alive.

Last month, the Westbrook Christian Church's pastor of spiritual formation told The Associated Press that Stacy Peterson requested an August meeting with a member of their pastoral staff when the church made a routine call to see why she and Drew Peterson had not attended services in recent months.

The church official made a "judgment call" not to alert authorities and did not consult with other church staff, Rob Daniels said.

At the time he spoke to the AP, Daniels would not identify the clergy member who met with Stacy Peterson or say where the meeting took place.

Why the F did she stay with a man who admitted he'd killed before, and gotten away with it?

Don't say "fear", becuaes she could have just as easily asked that pastor to call 911 and get her a restraining order.  With that info on paper, NO WAY he'd try to hunt her and kill her after that - he'd be too busy covering his tail as they investigated wife #3.

Instead, she stayed with him after that, until it happened to her.  makes no sense.

The plot sickens.  He could very well be innocent, but his actions scream "I did it."

Bank Records: Drew Peterson Funneled $250G to Son After Wife's Disappearance
Saturday, December 15, 2007

BOLINGBROOK, Ill. —  Ex-police sergeant Drew Peterson transferred nearly a quarter of a million dollars to his son in the weeks after the disappearance of his wife, Stacy Peterson, in November, MyFoxChicago.com reports.

Click here for the video report at MyFoxChicago.com.

Prosecutors subpoenaed bank records that show Drew Peterson funneled the money to his son, Steve Peterson, an Oak Brook, Ill., police officer, after Stacy Peterson was reported missing on Oct. 28.

Steve Peterson twice has testified before a grand jury investigating the disappearance of Stacy Peterson, 23, a mother of two, but declined to comment on the financial transactions.

Sources said Drew Peterson, 58, transferred to Steve Peterson nearly $250,000 from several bank accounts, including joint accounts he held with his wife. He reportedly wrote as many as six checks, with one for more than $150,000, investigators said.

Drew Peterson declined to comment but his attorney, Joel Brodsky, said, "I’m sure if that’s true, and I don’t even know whether or not it is, I’m sure that there are legitimate reasons for it."

One legal expert said the former Bolingbrook, Ill., police sergeant may be trying to protect his assets in case he is sued.

The sister of Kathleen Savio, Drew Peterson’s third wife who was found dead in an empty bathtub, said the family is considering filing a wrongful death lawsuit against Drew Peterson, who was in the process of divorcing Savio at the time of her death in 2004.

Savio’s death was ruled an accident, but her body was exhumed after new questions surfaced during the investigation into Stacy Peterson’s disappearance.

A second autopsy was performed and new evidence suggests she may have been murdered, authorities said.

State police also are seeking a new search warrant for additional cell phone records relating to Drew Peterson.

"When you get into a grand jury investigation where they’re going over the same area two and three times, that to me … shows you that they don’t have anything or what they have is extremely confusing and contradictory," Brodsky said.

Brodsky said he is not worried about what is found on the records.

Stacy Peterson was reported missing after she failed to show up at a friend's house. Drew Peterson claims she left him for another man, but Stacy Peterson's family says she would never leave her children behind.

maybe he was scared of having his assets frozen at some point.

that'd be my guess.

If he's innocent, he could offer to take ten polygraphs for the FBI tomorrow AM.  I'm sure they're happily give them.  He could clear his name in no time.  I know if I was accused of such a horirble crime, and I was innocent,  I'd be making a public spectacle of it -  I'd give a polygraph to every major new org, I'd be on barbara walters proclaiming my innocenence and above all - anger at the police for suspecting only me, an innocent man.

he's acting very guilty.

Talking is the last thing to do if your ever accused of anything. Innocent or guilty.
Let the lawyers do the talking. STFU is waht any (good) defence atty will tell you to do.

Hes guilty as sin. That cop gonna LOVE prison...

Not saying he's guilty, not saying he's innocent... BUT, If you had a joint account with someone else, and IF as he claimed, she ran off with someone else, ...would you leave funds sitting around that perhaps she or the other guy could draw from?

Drew Peterson's 3rd Wife Murdered by Drowning, New Autopsy Reveals
Thursday, February 21, 2008

CHICAGO —  The death of the third wife of former police officer Drew Peterson has been officially declared a homicide after another autopsy revealed she drowned, the Will County state's attorney said Thursday.

The second report on Kathleen Savio's March 2004 death included photos from the scene and reports from the initial investigation, along with results from microscopic examinations and toxicological tests, Will County State's Attorney James Glasgow said in a statement.

"We have been investigating this as a murder since reopening the case in November of last year," Glasgow said. "We now have a scientific basis to formally and publicly classify it as such."

Savio, 40, was found dead in her bathtub shortly before her divorce settlement with Peterson was finalized.

A coroner's jury ruled after the first autopsy that her death was accidental, but her body was exhumed last Nov. 13 after Peterson was named a suspect in the disappearance of his fourth wife, Stacy Peterson. She has not been found, but Drew Peterson said she ran off with another man.

Drew Peterson told the (Joliet) Herald-News on Thursday that the results "shocked" him. "You're kidding me. Unbelievable. That's hard to believe," said Peterson, 54, a former sergeant with the Bolingbrook Police Department.

Peterson has denied any involvement in either case and he has not been charged with wrongdoing. His attorney did not immediately return a telephone call Thursday from The Associated Press.

Authorities were not prepared to name a suspect, said Charles Pelkie, a spokesman for Glasgow's office.

"The investigation continues at this point," Pelkie said. "We've got an active grand jury investigation, we've got an active state police investigation."

Savio's family members, who received the news from Illinois State Police on Thursday, were not surprised.

"This is something we've believed for almost four years. It's a good thing that it finally came out," Savio's niece Melissa Doman said. "But it could have prevented if people would have listened to her before she was killed."

Savio filed for an order of protection in 2002 after Peterson allegedly knocked her down, ripped a necklace off her, and left marks on her body. She wrote in the order that she feared Peterson could kill her.

"I'm angry that it took years for them to fix it and it took a 23-year-old woman going missing, possible dead for them to look at something that could have fixed right away," Doman said. "She was my favorite aunt and she's gone."

Doman declined to say who she thought was responsible for Savio's death. She said she did not want to interfere with any current investigations or leads that authorities may have.

Dr. Larry W. Blum, the forensic pathologist who performed Savio's autopsy, said tissues were collected during the first autopsy on March 2, 2004, a second autopsy on Nov. 13, 2007, and a third autopsy performed by nationally known pathologist Dr. Michael Baden at the request of Savio's family on Nov. 16, 2007.

"It is my opinion based on my education, training, experience and personal observations, and to a reasonable degree of medical and scientific certainty, compelling evidence exists to support the conclusions that the cause of death of Kathleen S. Savio was drowning and further, that the manner of death was homicide," Blum said in a portion of the autopsy report released by the state's attorney's office.

A special grand jury convened in November 2007 is investigating both Savio's death and Stacy Peterson's disappearance.

Those oh so slow wheels of justice . . . .

Drew Peterson charged with murder, authorities say

(CNN) -- Drew Peterson, the former police sergeant who authorities call the prime suspect in the disappearance of his fourth wife, Stacy Peterson, has been indicted on murder charges related to his third wife, the Illinois state attorney's office said.

Drew Peterson was arrested Thursday on murder charges relating to his third wife, Kathleen Savio.

Illinois state police said Peterson was taken into custody Thursday.

Charles B. Pelkie, state attorney for Will County, Illinois, said a grand jury indicted Peterson in the murder of his third wife, Kathleen Savio, whose death had been ruled an accidental drowning.

He said the grand jury continues to meet and is studying the possibility of charges in Stacy Peterson's disappearance.

After Stacy Peterson went missing in October 2007, media frenzy and police scrutiny on Peterson revealed Savio had died mysteriously a few years earlier during a nasty divorce.

Savio died just before the division of the marital assets was finalized, making Drew Peterson the sole beneficiary.

Savio was found in the dry bathtub of her home. At the time, the death was ruled an accidental drowning. But her family continued to insist that Savio died as a result of foul play.

The investigation into Stacy Peterson's disappearance brought renewed interest in Savio's death. Authorities exhumed Savio's body, further tests were conducted, and her death has now been ruled a "homicide staged to look like an accident."
