"A “STRAIGHT” GAY PORN STAR"

"Zeb Atlas stopped by to tell Howard about being a “straight” guy who stars in gay porn. Robin told Zeb that having sex with men was gay, but Zeb claimed he didn't have “full-on sex” with men, explaining that he started out as a bodybuilder, “personal trainer,” and model before he learned that he could make a lot of money masturbating for the camera. Zeb added that, for a long time, he never knew his masturbation videos were being marketed to gay men.

Howard asked if Zeb how far he'd gone with other men on video, so Zeb said he'd been jerked off and had guys cum on him. Zeb also noted that he gets pressured all the time to do more on camera, but so far, he's managed to resist. Howard thought it was “very gay” that Zeb would let another man jerk him off, kiss another man, and let a dude cum on his chest. Zeb then said he's never allowed a man to blow him."

Wrong. If he is not sexually attracted to men and enjoy gay sex, he is not gay, no matter if he participates in it.

I am Debussey. I have sex with alien/Gary Busey hybrids, and with the anal probes in the alien spaceship, where Debussey is frequently abducted.

How can you not enjoy it, yet be hard and erect when the guy is touching you?

"Gay" refers to the sexual preference/orientation the individual has. A human being can participate in activities that it does not prefer, thus, it is possible to have sex with a man or jerk off in front of a camera for gay men without being gay.

Nope! Was never asked, and I haven't heard it. Though, I may very well be able to cop what is being played and do it in the future. :)

It's all about ear training. Listen to every interval, try to hear (and visualize) what's going on as you're hearing something...picking something up off a record "is not that hard." ;)

If you want to study counterpoint, look no further than J.S. Bach. He began the idea, and the book is pretty much closed with him too! 8)

Back in Bach's era, there "were no tritone substitutions," or certain things would get you in serious trouble. Certain intervals (a #4/b5 for instance....the tritone) were not to be in music because of the effect on the ear. For instance, most major chords up until the 40's and 50's were Major 6th chords- not major 7ths because of the dissonance between the root/tonic and the major 7th interval. Couple that with how it's voiced (try putting the two notes a minor 2nd apart....I like this sound, but it's pretty harsh and I only use it sparingly), and you could have been killed back in Bach's day.

Just sit down with a few Bach records (don't forget one of his other family members....J.C. Bach) and learn some of that stuff. Well worth it.

Haven't read the Schoenberg book no. I have studied the Slonimsky Thesaurus of Melodic Patterns and Sequences though- Coltrane studied out of this book quite a bit as did other jazz musicians.
My passion of late has been jazz, oh about the last 3 years now. What do you play-guitar? Try playing a maj7 chord voiced like so (for an Emaj9):

x
9
9
13
14
x

I like the devils interval too. Especially if you're doing a ii-V, throw that tritone in there, and it really make the ear go "huh?!?!? I like that!"

Monk made his entire career out of playing dissonant intervals.
Many uneducated people feel that he didn't know how to tune a piano (!).
Many times, he just loved playing whole tone scales over chords without a raised 4th and/or 5th.
Charlie Rouse and Monk really fit well together, both playing seemingly out of tune yet the entire time it was just their choice of scales that they chose to play.
Dissonance does not = bad. Consonance does not = good.

Monk Song = "Lulu's Back In Town."

Monk would spend hours on it, playing the same song, no breaks, just jamming it. It's Rhythm Changes, pretty much. And there are thousands of ways to play RC's. I'm sure Monk played a few hundred of them in the space that that practice session(s).

Let's see if you can name three ways to play the A section of RC's.... ;)
