Sometimes I get pissed off about 9/11 and all...
« on: December 20, 2007, 05:41:35 PM »
the hype about America being attacked.

I grew up in NYC, I saw the towers going to school, going to work, hanging out. And all this nonsense about America being attacked; some of the people who are most upset about it are white trash from the south and midwest who have never even been to NYC. What does NYC have in common with Omaha Nebraska or Des Moines Iowa? Nothing, apart from being containted within the same country. Whilst the country regards it as a national loss, many of us New Yorkers look at it with a sense of personal loss in more ways than one. NYCers have almost nothing in common with the Jebus freak, gun toting, white trash who rant on about the attack. They didn't lose anything; it was us New Yorkers. Sometimes I just wish people from Kansas or Wyoming or what have you would put a lid on it.
I hate the State.

We all lost a sense of security.  We lost fellow citizens.  We lost a lot of money.  Any place that relies on tourism was particularly devastated.  Our hotels were empty for weeks.  That attack impacted the entire country.

My point is that the solidarity was false; most of us NYCers have nothing in common with bumble fuck bob from Idaho.

They do, for the reasons I just listed.  On a normal day, the average person from Boise may not have much in common with the average person from Harlem.  But 911 wasn't a normal day.  The day after 911, they had a whole lot in common.

how often do you hear them talking about the towers? probably never, they talk about the people. innocent americans were attacked and killed, and everyone can relate to that. they dont care about something missing from the manhattan skyline.
