Ron Paul keeps cash from supremacist

WEST PALM BEACH — Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul has received a $500 campaign donation from a white supremacist, and the Texas congressman doesn’t plan to return it, an aide said Wednesday.

Don Black, of West Palm Beach, recently made the donation, according to campaign filings. He runs a Web site called Stormfront with the motto, “White Pride World Wide.” The site welcomes postings to the “Stormfront White Nationalist Community.”

“Dr. Paul stands for freedom, peace, prosperity and inalienable rights. If someone with small ideologies happens to contribute money to Ron, thinking he can influence Ron in any way, he’s wasted his money,” Paul spokesman Jesse Benton said. “Ron is going to take the money and try to spread the message of freedom.

“And that’s $500 less that this guy has to do whatever it is that he does,” Benton added.

A telephone message left Wednesday for Black was not immediately returned.

“We like his (Paul’s) stand on tight borders and opposition to a police state,” Black told The Palm Beach Post earlier.

On his Web site, Black says he has been involved in “the White patriot movement for 30 years.”

White supremacy stinks but it's a free country.  The guy can think what he pleases and support whichever candidate he pleases.

Sometimes freedom's a tough thing to handle.

1.  I don't know that I've ever mentioned Neil Cavuto on this site (if I have I don't remember) and I don't watch his show, so on what basis do you call him my friend?

2.  How am I "owned" by this clip?

Regarding the clip, his rationale is extremely weak.  He is keeping the money, because (a) he already spent it and (b) he doesn't want to return the money so this guy can use it to promote his causes.  Huh?

The issue isn't whether a white supremacist can support political candidates.  The issue is whether a presidential candidate should accept monetary support from a white supremacist.  This seems like a no brainer to me.  Return the money.  Story goes away.

As long as the person is not a criminal and/or used illiegal funds then I don't see why this is an issue

Bigotry is disgusting and stupid but it's free speech and RP certainly supports that.

I'm sure many of RP supporters are pro-choice while RP is pro-life but I'm sure he has no problems taking their money

As explained in the Cavuto/Paul video, Paul uses rationale and logic rather than return the money.  Other candidates returned the money from questionable sources in order to pander to people in an effort to appear "pure."  Paul also explained the brutal hypocrisy of candidates receiving money openly from the military industrial complex, an industry that has helped to siphon tens of millions of our tax dollars to questionable enterprises.

The story won't go away, however, returned money or not.  The term "white supremacist" and "racism" are media hot words, in order to incense and enrage.  Hell, the muli-million dollar SPLC "Civil Rights" group spends a lot of money telling us that we are about to be awash in a violent wave of white supremacists, despite the fact that the KKK has largely been reduced to a few guys in fatigues shooting beer cans in the woods or holding up an anti-immigration sign in front of a Home Depot.

If we scrutinized all campaign donors to all candidates, I'm sure we could dig up some pretty distasteful people with distasteful views.  However, like I said, the term white supremacism and racism are hot media words.

So the thousands of closet racists that contribute to all canidates are better then the Honest white supremist? I dont agree with the message of white supremacy and i think its a waste of energy that could be used for more useful things but this is a free country where we are allowed to express our views whether right or wrong short of violence....

The freedom that we all share means that we will disagree with each other.....That is the price we pay....Unless you would like a state of union that wants all of us to think alike.....

It is your opinion that what Ron Paul did was wrong by keeping the money and i respect that....

I don't think a candidate needs to try and find needles in haystacks among their many donors, but when something like this is brought to their attention, they should deal with it.  I don't think it's pandering to return contributions from questionable sources, though I do agree that pandering plays a large role in why many do so.

In this instance, it really is an error in judgment to keep the contribution and to try and rationalize it in the manner in which he did.

The one issue I strongly disagree with him about; but I am not a one issue man. I have donated to him and 100% agree with the three main issues: 1. Foreign Policy, 2. Monetary Policy, 3. Civil Liberties

Why should we all have to agree with eachother? You could get off on scat porn for all we know, in which case some would suggest you kill yourself, however, I don't give a shit. It's the miracle of individuality. Who fucking cares. Don Black isn't hanging anyone, he's just overzealous about his race.

wait, this thing was about 1 person's 500.00 donation?  Wow, won't be good when the day comes where you can't participate because of your beliefs.  Sure, this guy is a scum but that's not the point.

RP made a ton of money form many sources.  Giving this dude back his $2300 would just make this go away.

mccain and obama are getting lots of donations from idiot groups.  The key is to just give it back and disassociate yourself when you find out.
