 In the late 1980's Katz and Jerry Mastrangelo were forced to change the name of the gym by the owners of World Gym. It became known as "Mike Katz Fitness World" briefly. Membership started to dwindle. In the early 1990's Katz franchised from World Gym in his Branford, CT and Hamden, CT locations.
