Gh15 was right about creatine
« on: December 25, 2007, 05:11:34 AM »
One of the few times I really doubted if GH15 was really a pro was when he stated creatine was not very effective.  Being a big creatine user (EAS brand of course :)) I thought this stuff was really adding something to my lifts esp when I was "hormonized".

Three weeks ago I stopped taking creatine and instead started eating more calories as clean as I could.  Well, I'm stronger than ever.  In fact, yesterday I did bench after being sick with a very minor cold and added about 10 lbs to my lifts on bench and incline.

Sorry I doubted Gh15 haha!  You were right and I was dead sure you were wrong about this one!  :-*

for all your skepticism about claimed lifts you seem to be completely credulous when it comes to the claims of supplement hucksters.

i don't know how effective creatine is... but on an unrelated note... i went from zero whey shakes a day to 3 whey shakes a day, and changed nothing else, for one week.  And my number of reps max bench press with 185 increased by 4 in a single week.  I'm not going to share the exact rep numbers, as I am pathetically weak at the moment and weighing only 175 and will be self pwning myself.  But the fact that I was able to add 4 reps after being stagnant on the 185-lb rep maxout for months was highly highly encouraging.

I know you don't need 500 grams a day.  But 300?  I think I might.

Sure it's very likely that your body can make use of 5 times the USDA of protein.  ::)

well, i was probably averging 80 grams per day, eating like shit.
the US RDA for my size is 75 I think.  And i'm sure it was enough for HEALTH purposes.
But my number for muscle strength, recovery, glycogen/water levels, etc etc etc, must lie somewhere between 81 and 300 grams.  Yeah, I"m on the high end with 300 grams, but shit, I added 4 reps in a week.  I have been stuck at one number (high teens) since summertime, and suddenly I just don't stop and can do 4 more?  Whatever I was lacking in recovery or calories or whatever, I seemed to have fixed it.

USDA means jack shit for bodybuilders.  It's for fat ass couch potatoes, that's it.  It means absolutely fuck all for people who weight train or are athletes.  You would know that if you had even a basic understanding of nutrition, which you obviously do not.

Yes I should probably read more supplement company literature to learn about protein metabolism like you right?  And to think all this time I've been basing my diet around the scientific consensus.  How stupid.

Show me scientific consensus that proves that the USDA listed amount for daily protein intake is adequate for resistence trained athletes and bodybuilders.

I won't hold my breath.

Can't, just like there is no proof that high protein diets are harmful. RDA for Protein is a joke and most RDA listings are set to prevent disease. Take an active indiviudal and those demands change quite a bit.

Haven't taken it for probably close to 6 months now. Never really noticed a difference when i was on it, other than after a week of loading i was holding more water. As far as strength goes, no real improvements. When its time to bulk up again, ill probably start taking it again.
No doubt about it...

there are a bunch of articles on pubmed showing that trained athletes require normal to high normal amounts of protein. why dont you do the research yourself and learn about it, not being condescending but everyone seems to beleive the myth that 1 gram per pound etc.. which is brotelligence.
