A failed Tom Platz Guest Posing
« on: December 25, 2007, 05:40:41 PM »
Around 1989 or so, the Montanari Brothers were running their non-pareil , annual Gold's Classic at the Shubert Therater in New Haven, CT.

Many of you probably recall this event (which will be re-run again starting this coming year), for all the top-flight guest posers.

I was always one of the best shows around...anywhere...riva ling Bev's and Steve's.

Well, one year, Tom Platz was slated and advertized to be the GUEST POSER.

Long story short, he was currently beginning work for McMahon, was not competing, and was looking deflated in his clothing.

He went on stage, went into one of the most cocky, rambling, diatribes about I don't recall what I'd ever suffered through, and walked off the stage.

Several moments later, (after Montari bros. "coerced" him)...he did appear onstage, dropped his pants to the floor, and did several leg poses. And THEY were not what they used to be.

That's all he did.

I get embarassed just thinking about this.

Golden Eagle My Ass.

Agreed.

But that'd be like me showing you my high school yearbook photo, and showing up at the age of 44.

He was non-pareil in his day, but not THAT day.

Very true, but an insult like "Golden Eagle my ass" is a little strong toward someone who at one time was on top.  Age catches all of us and I'm sure his fans enjoyed the guest posing.

Yes...my words were strong. If you read any of my posts (don't blame you if you don't) I am very careful with using such strong verbage.

The Montanari's are proud, very hardworking people (like many on GetBig).

They have been in the gym business for over 20 years.

They run first class operations.

When they suffer absconding (which basically means someone does not outright steal from them, but, perhaps, does not deliver what was promised...does not even try and does so with avarice)...THEN I say things like "Golden Eagle My Ass".

Platz has been a good representative for bb for many years , apparaently.

Just NOT on that day.

My apologies if I was off base.

Who cares, the guy was a peice of shit that day, bodybuilding is so not main stream at all, these so called popular bb's should be happy anyone asks them to appear anywhere for a charge.  They are just glorified drug addicts.

You write you don't recall....

Well please elaborate. How was he cocky and rambling?  What was the topic of discussion?

Tom Platz was a complete tube.
He thought he was an intellectual and tried to speak like an intellectual but he was really just a steriod bloated piece of trailer trash. Just check him out in "The Comeback".   "I put my whole inner........uuhh....... mmm............thing.... ......being.......uuuuuu gggghhhh...... into bodybuilding and read philosophy". The girl couldn't read a nursery rhyme.
And now he sells skidmarked posing trunks to perverted old fat men on the internet.
What a complete wanker he is.

I have always liked Tom. Can't say that was always trughtful about certain things, but whatever. Back around 1989 or so I went to a gym opening seminar he was at in Columbus Ohio. I remember someone brought up the issue of steroids (gee what a surprise  ;D). Some asked him what he took for the 1982 Olympia. I wish I could remember exactly what he said but I am VERY close here. He said he took around 15mg of winny daily and some deca. I think the dose was around 300mg weekly give or take 100mg. I remember another BBer back in the day who used to compete and happened to be standing next to me (Jim Seitzer sp?) mumbling about how he took enough shit to kill a horse.  ;D Funny thing is this was not the first time I heard him quote these exact same doses. Either way I still think Tom was awesome.

It's a good thing bb'ers are judged by there body during competitions not what they sell on the internet later in life.  ::)

I want to mention that Tom's overall works and accomplishments in bb are legendary and singular to him only. He will be remembered as a legend. I only posted this transgressiuon made by him as the exception to the above rules.

EVERYONE has a down day or time in life.
