Given my political leanings I think it utterly ridiculous that married couples receive tax breaks and other freebies simply because they are married. I have no issue if people want to marry but they should do it for whatever meaning they might derive from it, not anything else. You could just as well create a law claiming that dog owners should get tax breaks (maybe there is one already?). In every country I have lived in married folks get tax breaks and other benefits. Utterly ridiculous!
