16 - 0 IN THE SALERY CAP ERA

Moss all time rd record

Brady all time td record

The superbowl is the real prize. This is just a perk. That said what the pats have just done has to be acknowledged. UNREAL!

Hate away haters!!!! For those who love football what we have seen my never been seen again.

Damn  it    :(      I was already planning my thread about them being beaten by a "Manning"

I wanted the Giants to win because it is illegal in Indiana to root for the Patriots. :)

That was A GREAT GAME. Brady and the Pats showed why they are the best team in years...but you gota give NY some credit they almost pulled it off. I think Brian/ Bryant whatever Gumble should never be allowed anywhere near a football game...I can't stand listening to him.

Manning's fumble and pick really helped to destroy the Giants momentum. Then in the fourth he acted as if he had all damnnight to score...idiot. Granted, I don't think it would have mattered any, cause once Brady got the ball back it would have been over, but still...he used up like 3 minutes of time to get that TD and  was using the whole play clock each time. The other Manning would have played much differently.  :)  Anyway...BRAVO Patriots.

P.S. I  still can't believe the finger poke to the eye thing...that guy needs a fine or something...uncalled for.

Incredible team accomplishment by the Pats. Going 16-0 is fantastic.

But........

It don't mean a thing without the ring!

(well, it does but anything less a Super Bowl win and the season goes all for not.)

I am not taking anything away from them at all, because they earned it.Great Ball team. ..but it wasn't easy for them.I think the Giants shocked some people tonight and the  Indianapolis game could have very easily went the other way. Not trying to make excuses but Indy was playing without some key players, mostly Marvin Harrison. NE may have been also, I can't remember I think body said they were...but the point is, they are gona have to get past Indy again to go to the SB,(hopefully we make it that far :-\  )...they have home field so odds are in their favor. As long as there isn't 3 ft of snow and bitter cold weather it will be a great game( if we both make it there of coarse)

                                        Good job Patriots..congrats.

Not if Indianapolis can help it.  >:(

It sucks that the two best teams ( in my opinion)are in the same conference/ division whatever the hell ya call it.

Going 16 - 0 in the regular season could very well never be seen again. With the constant increase in the salary cap and free agency going 16 - 0 is this day is age is extremley difficult. It will only get harder. The last team that went undeafeated was the 72 dolphins. There was only 14 games in a season , no salery cap, no free agency , they played i a great climate and they only played one team with a winning record.

I am not trying to gloat. Obv I am a huge pats fan. But I am also a huge football fan. I am shocked they went undeafeated. Aside from winning 16 straight games , they are human. They get tired. The lose some motivation. Hate him or not Belichick did a amazing job keeping them focused. Every team gave them there best shot this year.

I agree with you to a point. The superbowl is the real prize. That said going 16 - 0 , scoring the most points in a NFL season ever and setting numerous all time records would not make the season all for not.

That said if the pats dont win it all I will be dissapointed to say the least. The colts are a tough team that is vastly underrated this year. If they win it they will have earned it.

Great season and incredible accomplishment.  I doubt we ever see it again.  They barely got it done this year.  Very difficult to do.

I don't like the fact Moss broke Rice's TD record.  Rice's old record is still more impressive, but I hate to see a terd like Moss break it.

Awesome.  And they beat the best teams in the NFL along the way..the Colts, Steelers, Chargers, and Cowboys.  They had a pretty tough schedule, outside the Dolphins and Jets.  Now it look like they'll probably have to play either Jax or Pittsburgh again in the 2nd round...then the Colts...then either the Cowboys or Packers.  They still have a lotta work to do.

Exactly right. Rice set the previous record of 22 td grabs in only 12 games(strike shortened season) in 1987. On 65 catches, no less. I think his record is much more impressive considering he did it only 12 games.

Yes, it would. Try getting one Pats player to agree with you if they lose in the playoffs.

The ring is what counts.

Look at this way: If team goes 10-6 and ends up winning the Superbowl versus a team like the Pats who go 16-0 and loses in the playoffs, well......

What team would you have rather been a part of? Serioulsy though, going 16-0 is unreal in today's salary cap era and I'm not trying to degrade in anyway. But if I was a player, I want the ring, period.

I said the superbowl was the real prize. But to say going 16 - 0 , scoring the most points ever , and setting numerous NFL all time records would be a waste of a season is a massive stretch imo.

My point was not that 16 - 0 is better then a superbowl , it was that all the things the pats have done this season = a lot more then a wasted season if they don't win it.

I agree with you. What Rice did was more impressive. Rice is the greatest ever.

On the same token IMO I think what Brady did was most impressive. 50 td's to 8 ints playing outside in New England weather. Marino played in south Florida and Manning in a dome. Not to mention he has only been playing with 3 of his four receivers 16 weeks. Normally it takes years to build trust/feel between receiver's and a QB. Couple that with the fact Moss was considered a washed up trouble maker not worth a fourth round pick , Welker was a unknown , and Gaffney was a caste off from the texans who has been playing with the pats for not even 2 full seasons.

Again, we agree. The weather factor is always something I took into consideration for passing records.

Did you agree with the vast majority before this season started that Moss was washed up? I thought it had to do more with the QB play in Oakland. The guy is a freak. Even at 30 years old he's on top of his game by far. In fact, this season more than demonstrates that's he's still in his prime.

I thought Moss was going to be a cancer in the locker room. I didn't want him. man oh man was I 100 percent wrong on all counts.

The media can do a lot to vilify someone.

Oh btw you where 100 percent right about Asante. I forgot to tell you I was wrong about that to. He is elite. Truly elite.
