I understand that american colonialism is an unstoppable thing.  president cannot stop it.  if venez oil becomes necessary/desirable during the Obama campaign, the forces behind things will start a war, regardless of how obama feels about it.  we all know this.

If the brits possessed the balls and the technology that we have now, they'd still be in change, IMO.

and i'm sure over decades, US influence might wane some... but it'll be long after we're gone that any sort of major shift in power happens.  worst case, things get tight, we can utilize all the advantages we've set up (oil contorl and bases) and start twisting some bigger arms.  A second cold war, yada yada.

Perhaps that one day shall come for the US as well, when like Spain, France, and Britian, that we lose our old colonial powers and find us backed up and facing an onslaught of non-stop immigration amidst a sea of political correctness.  Western Europe is finished.  The Crescend and Star will fly over those nations in the future.
