I don't understand why everyone is happy about Chuch winning a fixed fight. I will never watch the UFC again because yesterday you could tell that silva was payed off. He has fought over 40 times in different organization, even bare knuckle anything goes type of fights and never once has he fought like he did. He knocked chuck down with a punch and didn't even go after him! What the hell!!!!?? All he did was some amateur level boxing and nothing else, even the look on his face, he looked like his mother died and that he was regretting what he was doing. Regardless waste of money and waste of time watching that kind of crap. I suspected this a while back but that fight was the clincher.

It was a big fight for both of them after both coming off two straight loses. Both had a lot to gain and a lot to lose from another loss. Fixed fight I doubt it. It was about as fixed as Gonzaga knocking Mirko with his signiture kick.

Have watched his barenuckle fights pride fights ufc fights. I like Wand he's a good fighter. There are different rules in the ufc than he had before. Changes you game plan alot. Heath Hearring was awesome in pride fought top level athletes and in the ufc got stuck with good regular guys that fight a certain way. He's looked like sh1t in the ufc. Mirko same thing. Everyone thinks there unstoppable until you get KTFO, than you think twice about getting caught with the same shot. The UFC has changed alot lately, last couple of years refs offical judges screwing things up. But in the end i doubt any top level fighter would risk a good injury for a bill. But oh well I'll still watch. Even thou I think 44.95 for a ppv in 2008 is getting a bit outta hand. Next thing you know they'll be 54 like boxing ppv. Its all good happy new year!

considering the interest in a wandy/rampage rematch would absolutley DWARF the interest in a Liddell/Rampage rematch....and considering wandy only makes about a 1/4 of what Chuck makes,it would have been in Dana's best interest (if he was gonna fix this fight) to have the opposite results

I think it's fixed..i think it was a ploy by zuffa to play on the wandi/lidell legacy and build back up their boys that have always drawn a crowd to say HEY LOOK OUR GUYS STILL SMOKED EVERYONE THAT WAS BIG IN OTHER ORGANIZATIONS WE'RE STILL NUMBER ONE!

My buddy told me the reason Silva didn't go after Chuck when he fell twice is that he has *zero* groundfighting skills.

Is this true?

Considering that Silva is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, it's absurd.

You're forgetting that 90% of the UFC fans have no idea who Wandy is while they rock their Chuck Liddle (tm) TapOut gear.

Either way, I've never seen Wandy fight so timidly in my life. It's a shame they don't have Pride rules. The second Chuck hits the mat when Wandy floored, he'd be getting stomped and soccer kicked into 2008. Pity.

Yeah, it's a shame. However, M1 rules allow for knees on the ground. I had heard they were going with all Pride rules but I guess it wasn't to be.

Yes, ground stomps and soccer kicks would be good for entertainment.
Would give more weapons to stand-up fighters.

Anyway, i don't think it was fixed, both sides had opportunities to win by ko, it came close a couple of times. But i must admit that i was disappointed a bit in Silva. I think the fight against Mirco changed something in his head. If you watch that again, crocop really destroyed him. Losing like that can break your confidence, which is very important in a fight.
But i understand why he fought a bit conservative. Chuck is a dangerous striker and he has height+reach advantage. He'd love for a guy to come in swinging haymakers, just to put him down with one counterpunch.

Fight timid well hmm lets see maybe the fact he got knocked out his last two fights. Or could it be possible that Liddells style matches up perfectly with someone who likes to charge in? So I guess Wandy being a BBJ blackbelt his only options that he has when another fighter goes down is stomps and soccer kicks?

I am a real big fan of both fighters and would have been happy if either would have won but lets not take anything away from his victory. To say that it was fixed is absurd. Does anyone on this board think a warrior like Wandy would throw a fight? Especially a fight that he has publicly stated he was wanted for years? I think he was more integrity then that. If anything there is more proof that fights in Pride were fixed then any fight in the UFC. If fight fixing was going on in the UFC do you think that they would have really had Rampage beat Liddell or Anderson Silva beat Rich Franklin? Anyway I guess regardless of who would have won there would have been people making excuses for the respective fighter who lost.

biggest thing wasnt pride rules it was that it took place in an octagon instead of a ring. it just suits chuck with that big space to move around in and use his countering. wand had problems catching him, cornering him and cutting off angles.

I think I have almost every fight Wand had taped and he looked like a different guy. I don't know if the cage and rules is the big difference but he didn't even try and go after chuck when he hit the ground. My son is a huge Chuck and UFC fan so i had to show him the two Pride DVD's where Silva fogstomps the shit out of Rampage. I don't understand it, it looked like Rampage was even shaking his head..fixed, I doubt it but it was odd to say the least.
