Exactly.

As far as "supporting the troops" is concerned - get real.  As I said, they are nothing more than thugs with guns paid to protect the assets of the rich.  Try being a poor person in North America, or anywhere else in the world for that matter, and telling me otherwise.

Let the president answer a high anarchy
Strap him with a AK-47, let him go fight his own war
Let him impress daddy that way
No more blood for oil, we got our own battles to fight on our own soil
No more psychological warfare to trick us to thinking that we ain’t loyal
If we don’t serve our own country, we’re patronizing a hero
Look in his eyes, its all lies
The stars and stripes, have been swiped
Washed out and wiped and replaced with his own face

You need to get real.  The only reason you are on the internet is because of troops from the past and present.  You of all people should know that being a Canadian.

Oh brother what a shitstorm.  ;D To all the guys who have offered their support, quite a few of you vehemently, I'd like to say thank you.  It means alot, and I appreciate it.  To MattC, I wont say that you arent entitled to your opinion, and you seem to want to present yourself as a free thinker, but to generalize and stereotype me, even here on the G&O, seems low.  I think that your "thugs with guns" comments is so far off base its not funny, but Ive found that trying to explain the real deal to someone with a closed mind who only believes what Micheal Moore and CNN have to say is like arguing religion.  Many want to tell you their views, but when you try to express yours, they have absolutely no interest in wanting to hear it.  Hope this helps.

My favourite part of that song is below.  I am not religious, but appreciate the comments directed towards Bush:

"Someone's tryina tell us something,
Maybe this is God just sayin' we're responsible
For this monster, this coward,
That we have empowered"

This isnt about your views, you are entitled to them, its about showing some class and knowing when is the right time to discuss something and when isnt.

This implies that the official reasons to wage wars are the true reasons.  The reason wars are fought is due to international commercial interests.  Bush is so stupid, he can't even consistently lie and pretend that's not the case anymore!  Check it out here (first 15 seconds says it all):

It's all about money.  Not about fake terrorists in caves who can't even be proven to exist.  I love how 7 of 19 alleged 9.11 airplane hijackers are still alive.  Bin Laden isn't even wanted anymore  in conjunction with 9.11 on the FBI's own website:

http://www.fbi.gov/wanted/topten/fugitives/laden.htm

Wars are started by commercial interest groups who get people to believe they are for true causes.  War is a racket that costs lives and profits in dollars.  War is rarely for "freedom" as you are suggesting.  False war pretexts have happened many times throughout history.  Hitler's Reichstag fire anyone?  ::)

Interesting fallacy.  :)  I used to feel the same way.  I agree that some soldiers and police officers are worse than others.  You may be one of the "good" ones, but even the good ones ultimately serve the same political ends, whether you realize that or not.  It's not a matter of thinking you are a good guy.  The fact remains, soldiers are used as political pawns to reach certain political goals.  For example, someone in the German army during WWII is still a Nazi, regardless of whether or not he is just in the army and doesn't agree with it, or considers himself a nice guy, or whatever else.

I think it's great that you are strong willed enough to fight for something you believe to be true and just and still have enough heart to move on with your life after the fact, but I still completely oppose what you fought for.

Well, Matt, as you again failed to ask me, what was I personally fighting for?  Obviously you understand my intentions, so please, spell it out for everyone else.  Also, to take offense to your generalization of me is no fallacy.  Its fact.

The fallacy is that you think your intentions change the fact that you were a political pawn.

Why were you in the military?  I assume to fight for freedom.

I'm saying the war is for money, not for "freedom" or "terrorists" or anything else.   There was no terror threat, and not fighting that war would put anyone's freedom on the line.  The purpose of the war on terror is to steal oil, nothing more.

If a terrorist from another country came in here, would you guys be supporting him?  How about the Muslim websites where the Muslim terrorists are praised?  Would you guys say I would be out of line to go in there and express my political views?  This is a serious question and I am curious to hear your replies.

PS - guys, hopefully you can all forgive me for disrespecting one person.  It just so happens the 76,000 other people collectively mean a little more to me.

Actually he is a political pawn who doesn't even realize that he himself is a terrorist fighting an immoral and illegal war for MONEY while being brainwashed to believe it is for freedom.  Without soldiers, this war could not continue.  Soldiers and police officers are hired thugs with guns to protect the assets of the rich.

That said, in his own subjective perspective, he is a hero, fighting for what he (falsely) believes to be a just cause.  But the same can be said for Hitler, so that argument is meaningless.

Fucking Canadian liberal ( and liberals in general) I swear you pacifists are completely useless and clueless................ .I have nothing, this post is so blatantly fucked up it leaves me speechless >:(

Joe - I am not a liberal.  My views can't be as easily stereotyped as your neo-conservative ones.  Your points of view are obvious - I can basically tell you what your beliefs are on everything without even hearing them from you first.  If I were a liberal, I would believe in welfare, universal health care, and other liberal ideas.  I believe in nothing of the sort.  I can't be so easily typecast.

So far no real rebuttals, just the same tired rhetoric and ad hominem attacks.

The only point I concede with is that this thread is not the most appropriate place to voice my opinions, not that they are fundamentally flawed.
