You guys aren't getting the jist of what is being said, you are too busy defending guns and using statistics.

What is being said is that it is easier to point and shoot.  BANG! It's done, you took a life (assuming you got a lethal shot in), they don't have to be 1 foot away to do so...but if you had were to stab someone or strangle someone...well, that's much more personal, you have to feel the person, touch the person, feel the blood in your hands, watch the life drain from their eyes.

To me, it is a totally different thing.

Whats easier....

Pulling a trigger....

Or driving a 3000+ pound car over someone?

If the mad rapist breaks into my house, I'm going to shoot him hopefully from several feet away.

Brilliant breakdown

It takes a helluva lot more rage/passion to be within a foot of killing in a manner other than with a gun.True and I won't budge my belief in that.

Killing isn't act act of a sociopath , not being remorseful makes a freak a freak.

If the mad rapist breaks into my house, I'm going to shoot him hopefully from several feet away.

If anyone makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up the safety comes off.

You have very little chance of making a kill. Make sure to aim for the biggest area (gut/torso) , they will bend in pain , keep shooting until you're empty

then reload and call 911

all depends I think

I could do both but pulling a trigger is my answer

Easier?  I'd say pulling the trigger.  Again, you don't have to be in close proximity to the person and they're not going to fly up onto your windshield.

With the advent of video games ("shoot em ups" with realistic looking guns)
bb and air rifles/pistols looking just like the real thing
"pulling the trigger" is becomming increasingly easier to fathom/and do!
we are almost "training" our youth in these methods!

Which means you are seeing what you wish to see as the above was in fact covered. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him think....

I'd have to say the average american could drive a car vs the percentages that could shoot a gun let alone know how to load one....aim it...& then squeeze the trigger.   ::)

The average gun shooting (combat, law enforcement, civilian) takes place less than 7 feet away.  Of those....less than 10% do NOT hit the intended target let alone kill someone.

Jumping off a bridge is easy to do....but why aren't so many people doing it?

Stop watching tv people   ::)

We're not all Rambo

It's an irrelevant argument anyway, but:

SUV Hits Several Outside California Middle School

Thursday, May 03, 2007

May 2: An SUV sits outside the Ralston Middle School in Belmont.

BELMONT, Calif. — A sport utility vehicle jumped a curb and plowed into a group of California middle school students waiting for a bus, authorities said. Three teenagers were in intensive care Thursday.

About half a dozen children were hit, including several who were trapped under the SUV when it struck a tree outside Ralston Middle School on Wednesday, Police Lt. Dan DeSmidt said. Parents and staff used a jack and collective muscle to lift the SUV and rescue the trapped children, he said.

Fire Chief Doug Fry said 13 children and the SUV's driver were taken to hospitals. Seven went to trauma centers with problems ranging from broken bones to internal injuries, he said.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,269717,00.html

Later one person said "Nobody needs a vehicle that massive. It can only cause horrific damage with such momentum. It is a terrible public health hazard. If it saves just one life it will be worth it. Think of the children!"

Yah, it's like that....

I see people who don't use data, facts, and historical context in the gun debate as using their emotions vs objective info. I supplied the former, they supplied the latter. Conclude what you wish from that.
