The following is an excerpt from a blog entry by The Houston Chronicle's Steve Sievert:

UFC scraps plans for U.K. show in March

The UFC has decided against staging UFC 83 in Manchester, England and is working to relocate the show to the U.S.

Although a source I spoke with confirmed that the U.K. event has been cancelled, no specific were provided as to why. However, the show will go on, only here in the states.

The judges in England suck and the fights started at like 2 pm my time, I am glad they are having it here.

When does Lesnar fight Mir?  I'm not even sure if that's UFC.

UFC 83: Ed Herman vs. Demian Maia

"I got back to Sao Paulo today; I was vacationing in California with my wife, where I also shot some Jiu-Jitsu dvds. I’ll be back at the UFC on March 8th to fight Ed Herman, who I don’t know, but my manager brought me a tape with some of his fights to analyze, but I haven’t had time to watch yet.” - maia

Randy Couture has resigned. Andrei Arlovski has one fight left on his current deal. Gabriel Gonzaga is a one-kick wonder. Mirko Cro Cop is lost. Brandon Vera just lost.

What’s all that mean?

It means that Fabricio Werdum — with his technical knockout of Gonzaga at UFC 80: “Rapid Fire” this weekend — perhaps locked up a title shot against the winner of the interim championship between Tim Sylvia and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC 81: “Breaking Point” on February 2.

Arlovski may have looked like shit, but he beat Werdum pretty easily.

MMAWeekly.com has learned that Diego Sanchez will now face Pride veteran David Bielkheden at UFC 82. He was originally scheduled to fight Brazilian fighter Roan Carneiro, but according to Sanchez, Carneiro was forced to withdraw due to an undisclosed illness.

Sanchez said several opponents were proposed to him, but it was Bielkheden who accepted the fight and will now make his Ultimate Fighting Championship debut.

I take Lesnar as well. But at the same time I wouldn't be surprised if Mir subbed him quickly.

“I think I did good. I just got cut. I think it was getting better and better for me and sometimes you eat the bear and sometimes the bear eats you…. I just opened up a new school here in my hometown of Victorville and I want to take about 5 months off before my next fight. I want to do everything right. I got another baby on the way with my beautiful wife. I want to keep everything in line and go out there with no distractions.” - daddy

“I told (UFC President) Dana (White) that I might take a little time off to see my family and because I’m starting this new gym, the H.I.T. Squad, and I’m getting my clothing line out there. But I want to see Georges and Matt fight, and I told Dana that I’d probably like to fight Matt Serra after that fight. If Matt loses, I’ll be looking to fight him. The fans will definitely see me in the Octagon again. I will be there.” - Matt Hughes

Andrei Arlovski will touch gloves with wrestler Jake O’Brien when he steps back into the Octagon on Saturday, March 1 at UFC 82 “Pride of a Champion” inside the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. The former UFC heavyweight champion confirmed he was officially offered the bout on Tuesday, giving the Belarusian bomber a little more than five weeks to prepare for the three-time state wrestling champion. Arlovski said he expects to receive and sign his bout agreement shortly, which will greenlight his first fight in 11 months

“BJ is the kind of guy that likes to talk trash behind your back, but he’s nice to your face. I don’t know if he knew I was there [ringside at UFC 80] or what the deal was, but whatever man. I don’t care. He could talk all of the smack he wants, it doesn’t really matter to me. He’s going to have to get in the cage and he’s going to have to fight me and I’m not a pushover. I’m coming with a lot of heat, I’m coming with a lot of pressure and I could fight with the best of the best. It’s not going to be an easy fight for him by any means and he’s going to have to pay for his comments so we’ll see. He’s not going to walk through me and I don’t think he’s going to beat me to be honest with you. He’s going to have to pay for his comments for sure now. It doesn’t matter if he retracts them or not.” - Sherk
