Out of all of them, Aaron Baker had the best run, coming 2nd to Flex at a Miami show. Dearth did an Olympia and place badly, Jim Quinn did a few placed respectably but as for Demey, Comerford and the rest they faded. Padilla was at the end of his career as I beleive he was in his 40's already.

Ironically Lugar looked the absolute biggest and best I had ever seen him. Supplemented to the gills, soon appeared as the Narcissist...

The NOC that Momo won over Dorian could of been Padilla's...he came back and looked awesome there.

Very true njflex. To take it one step further, if the PDI has a similar calibre lineup they IMO wouldn't have failed so miserably.

If by “defecting” you mean guys who competed in the WBF, who previously competed in the IFBB, I count 10:

- Mike Christian
- Mike Quinn
- Tony Pearson
- Danny Padilla
- David Dearth
- Johnnie Morant
- Berry DeMey
- Eddie Robinson
- Vince Comeford
- Gary Strydom (WBF Champion)

Three WBF guys may have had IFBB pro cards, but they never competed in an IFBB pro show. They are:

- Troy Zuccolotto (1989 NPC National Champions and 1989 Mr. Universe)
- Jim Quinn (1990 North American Champion)
- Aaron Baker (1990 NPC USA Champion)

One guy competed in the IFBB but never competed in a WBF show:
- Lou Ferrigno (who left shortly after the drug-testing policy arrived)

I disagree with your take on Luger. He was somewhat smaller than he'd been in his WCW wrestling days. He just carved himself up and got super-ripped for that video he had at the 1992 show, which was to have been his pre-film (Luger was supposed to be the quest poser but didn't show due to a motorcycle accident).

Dumb decision?

Jim Quinn got $125,000 a year. Guys like Robinson, DeMey, Strydom, and Christian, got $200,000 or more.

The others got high 5-figure salaries, FAR more than they received as IFBB pros.

Strydom and Zuccolotto got Weider contracts after the WBF folded, each getting a good chunk of change (despite Strydom not competing until 1996 and Zuccolotto placing "18th" in nearly every show he entered).

Eddie Robinson may have benefitted the most, out of all the WBF guys. McMahon kept him for two years to endorse ICOPRO supplements (at or near his WBF salary), provided he submit to the drug-testing policy. In his old column in MuscleMag, Robinson stated that he made more money in one year with the WBF than he would have made in four years with Weider or the IFBB.

Aaron Baker and David Dearth really got noticed after their placings in the last WBF show (3rd and 5th, respectively). This is especially true for Baker, whos many fans felt was placed lower than he should have been, due to his affiliation with McMahon's organization.

Based on that, I don't think going to the WBF was "dumb" decision. For many of these guys, it was the best move they could have ever made.

based on financial then yes but again the 'dumb" reference was to prove that when most of those crossed back over some got a backlash of some kind for defecting over and could have affected there placings in ifbb 93 and on...strydom got rich ok,but probably hated to compete with powers to be after wbf he was there guy and ifbb they could care less he did 96 n.o.c.and then 06 show .
