What's with soft ass Parenting ?
« on: January 29, 2008, 12:56:06 PM »
Seriously, this is damn national problem. I was getting some tests done, and this "baby sitter" with 4 kids (2 of them hers) could not control them worth a damn. And she always used the same pleading voice, like " '____' come here...", or " '_____', please sit down, you're not being nice".

I know my mother only had to say something once, and give me "that look", and if she had to say it twice, that was my ass. Even my babysitter would light me up on occasion.

Lack of stones when it comes to discipling kids is what causes many of these kids to become bad apples when they are in middle or high school. And the parents wonder why their kids talk back to them or have no respect for them...well, they didn't instill it when they were kids.

My father had no trouble using a broom handle on my azz

When I am in the presence of such behavior , I just ask them if they can hear , the kids usually get a little uneasy when they get addressed directly by a stranger and tend to settle down , "the look" I learned from my mother helps

This nation is raising a bunch of sissies. Every kid is special and great and it's always someone elses fault when they get in trouble. Kids today are so coddled it's ridiculous.

Exactly, I only felt special when my dad tore up my butt with his belt. Parents these days don't want to hurt the child "feelings" or "self-esteem" and want to be the kid's best friends...they think they will be murdered in their sleep if the children get mad...But when you put fear in their hearts, the opposite is true, it is when the kid's don't fear you is when they become "Children of the Corn".

difference between abuse and discipline.

I don't think belting kids is okay, but a slap here and there to let them know who's boss goes a long way.

Today's kids are fucked.. Myspace, cellphones.. They're so shallow and unintelligent, and it's not even funny. All they're got is a high economic advantage, which is due to smarter people making decisions for them. When the rest of the world cathes up they'll be crying wolf to people who weren't idiots and whose parents taught them the right way.

I agree 100% with all of this. Kids lack lack respect, morals, discipline and for the most part could use a crack on the ass. My folks used to give us a wack with a wooden spoon when we were bad as kids. I survived! give me a break with this naughty chair bull shit. After I tell you not to do something once and you dont listen you get a wack on the butt. no questions asked. Im not for beating the snot out of a kid but almost all need it now and then

my father would pick me up by the neck and slam me against the wall.  that's the ultimate discipline.  being picked up by the neck reeks of abuse, but I have self discipline and I was a WILLFULL kid

With this I will most definitely agree.

Someone hit the nail on the head when they said kids have no fear of or respect for adults. They are also too smart for their own good. They have way too many rights and they know it. I am a high school teacher and it saddens me to see where this country is headded in terms of its children. Just last night Evander Holyfield was at our basketball game watching his niece play and there were some kids there mouthing off to him. It was so disrespectful. He is such a nice guy which made it that much more awful. Not to mention the fact that the man is a legend.

haha who the hell would mouth off to Evander Holyfield. All it is they know he's not going to hit them, just some limpdicks trying to feel tougher than they are.

these kids are in for a harsh reality blow when they are on their own

being picked up by the neck=fear of father.  Not anymore though, maybe that's why I started lifting weights?  :-\

we got the "belt" when we were kids growing up. talk back, and WHAM! i never liked it and i don't approve of it now, but you listened and respected your parents. child abuse is one thing, but getting a good whack for talking back is another. if my dad did nothing but abuse me just for the sake of doing it, i woulda' worked out like an m'er f'er and got big to fight back, or called the cops on him.
