Now we must keep in mind that such a purchase is well within the means of Gates and Buffet. When these guys buy things like this, they don't spend money, they reallocate funds. Their net worth does not change ( it's looked at in a slightly different manner from an accounting perspective ) what they buy along these lines is viewed as an asset. With their combined wealth and the finance world only too willing to back them in anything, it's possible from a cash perspective. I think a guy like Gates would rather build another " Google " then buy it.
You are correct the government would step in.
Just as a side note, did you know Gates invested 240 Million in Facebook. It's a fact. The kid who owns/created it is a 23 year old nerd.
