Excellent point here!

 MD is very well known, as we seen with Nasser, to attempt to keep their enemies closer by offering them a JOBBY-JOB. In efforts to stop them and contain them.

 Could very well be the reason why SEAN is with them. To BUY his loyalties and silence him.
