Rusty is the man...he has more passion and love for bodybuilding than anyone I know. Should have been a pro in the '80's

He is showed me how to pose back in the day when I first moved to PHX. One of the best posers of all time IMO

Good luck Rusty, that lineup is brutal!!  8)

Rusty looks awesome, but IMO didn't beat Bob at that Masters show. Bob had a LOT more size and good aesthetics. Their conditioning was similar (not great but good).

Rusty should, however, have placed 2-3 in that show.

Props to gh15 for the good words about Rusty.

It wasn't a "real" contest? Just what were we competing in then? It hasent been put on again for the simple reason that it wasnt profitable to the promoter...ANY promoter could put it on. From what I understand, the guys that promote the AC Pro are going to bring back the Masters O...

It was created for me to win? LOL...thats a good one. Especially given the fact that they had no guarantee I would even enter the show, who else would enter (as it was open to anyone over 40, or what condition anyone would show up in on game day.

Note, few contests have competitors that are 7 spots away from each other, compare....

Agreed, it's just another case of Mike Mentzer in the 1981 Mr Olympia - people saying he should have won when he placed 5th.

Rusty looked great in that show, but no way in Hell did he deserve to beat Bob - which is why he didn't, plain and simple.

Why didn't he beat me any of the other 4-5 shows we competed against each other, then?

Rusty is a good BB, and an outstanding poser....as for any of the "porn" stuff, it never made any difference on stage as some like to claim..if it did, he never would have turned pro in the first place.

There is no rhyme or reason to judging at BB contests.  Despite the guidelines, judges do what they want to, & are involved in one of the most subjective decisions that exist in juried competition.  There were times that Chic probably should have been higher than he was in contests, & times Rusty probably was as well.  So give it a break. 

As for how he'll do, these pix quite clearly show he doesn't have the legs to be top 10 in this show.  He'll end up 11 or 12 as usual.  That's his slot & he will keep it.

You guys make it sound like shape owns everything in bodybuilding.  Put Rusty and Bob side by side in a rear lat spread and you would see Bob's dominance.  It's apples and oranges I guess.

I should also remind you that Rusty came EIGHTH, not SECOND.  Before you go on about how much of a travesty it was for Bob to beat Rusty, keep in mind these bodybuilders also beat him:

2     Johnny Stewart
3     Pavol Jablonicky
4     Claude Groulx
5     Stan McCrary
6     Nathan Wonsley
7     John Simmons

I've made this point before and you never seem to listen... If the athletes were compared in TWOs instead of THREEs then each and every competitor could be compared with every other competitor. Score the contests based on mandatory comparisons with a live scoreboard and all this "paying your dues" and "not being noticed till it was too late" bullshit would be eliminated. The live scoreboard would make it immediately obvious when the fix was in... just as the audience booed right through the short-lived Mr O Challenge Round (Ronnie beating Dex in the abs and thigh etc etc).

If contests were scored this way then the guy who beats the most of his fellow competitors in the most poses would win. As it stands now there is no way to win a contest if you aren't picked for the first callout... that's why the contests APPEAR rigged (whether they are or not).

don't know why some people see things in such absolute terms..they can't accept "multi-value logic", despite the fact that it's reality: rusty is an excellent bodybuilder, he almost certainly should have been placed higher at the masters..a very solid argument can be made for that.

but another reality is that bob fairly took the show..he was in fact at a physical peak.  posting the least-flattering pics of him can't take that away. 

bayGBM is probably upset because bob turned down his offer of brunch with a buttfuck.

yep. but bob got a title to brag about.

in the eyes of anyone who knows the sport, it matters nothing.  and youll notice they no longer use that title when announcing bob.  It brings back the memory of that fake staged show.
