Squadfather claims a 385 pound bench? Can it be?
« on: February 04, 2008, 03:18:13 AM »
i actually consider my bench pretty shitty at a 385 single, like most of us fat guys i'm far stronger on squats and deadlifts. ;D

does anyone else think this buffet destroying monster is full of shit?

i guess when chubby isnt busy requesting members to post pics of themselves for more beat- off material, he's busy drumming up lies that rival joelocal's claim of a 405 bench at 16 years old.

bwahahahahaha. 385. oh brother.

why does that sound so impossible? He's trained for a long time. Doesn't sound like BS to me.

I thought Squad has admitted to using anabolics in the past.

the difference between 400 lbs for one rep and 500 for reps is enormous.
I think the average guy with average genetics can make a ~400 lb bench.

I'm not skeptical of this claim. Of course, there isn't proof...but there aren't really grounds for skepticism either.

Where did you get that from? Sarcasm has admitted to juicing here quite a few times, although he doesn't mega-dose or anything.

I believe his bench claim

...most lifetime naturals would be lucky to get 300 for a 1RM, no matter how long they had been training.

For the record I sincerely doubt Squad could manage 315 for 1.

You as a reference in this matter is a waste of time. Unless you have done everything correctly in every area influencing gym performance daily for 15 years, don't waste time trying to think you are a reliable indicator of other peoples performance.

What? 300 for a 1rm?!
I assume you're joking.

I'm a natural and can put up 315 for 5 reps or so, and I'm pretty average in the grand scheme of things. If I don't hit a 400 lbs bench within the next years I'll be severely disappointed.

First of all: Hi Joe Local, nice gimmick!

385 x 1 isn't all that impressive for a heavy guy like Squadfather so sure it's possible...true or not, who knows, but possible yes.

If he can do it then he should have no problem posting up a vid of it.  I mean without that there is no credibility

Its no less than he would demand from another person making such outlandish claims.

i assumed he natural because he looks like a bag of shit.

if he's not, then he must have shit genetics.

believe what you want.

he couldn't push 385 on his best day.

thats a fact.

What's wrong with that? Its a legitimate claim. Not like the 585 pound claims that others made on here. 385lbs for a single is quite the norm.

Delusional. I've been training for 20-odd years and I've seen maybe 10 guys put up 4 plates, two tops that did 5, regardless of pharma.

Seriously?
I can't imagine NOT getting it.  I'm only 20, and my genetics are ABSOLUTELY average. I was really skinny in high school. I weighed 135 or thereabouts when I was 16-17. Somewhat narrow frame, high traps, sloped shoulders, peaked/short biceps.
Now at 20 I'm just below 210 lbs.  I don't know what my max is, but if I can bench 315 for 5 now then I can't imagine not hitting 180. I'm just guessing, but I'd GUESS that 315 for 10 or so is ~1 rep with 405. Like I said, that's just a guess, but it sounds about right.  And yes I plan to be a lifetime natural.

So let me sum this up:

you have been training for 15 years,
you have used steroids, and
you still haven't pressed 385 yourself?

Wow, you have anger issues. I was asking legitimate questions. Did you use AAS, and did you ever press 400? If the answer to both of those questions is "yes", then I can understand your lack of faith in the claim. Some people just don't have what it takes to lift big weights. No shame in that. I don't have what it takes to lose weight. No fun, but I have learnt to accept it -- and have learnt that other people being ripped is not solely due to their drug use. Just like you can learn to accept that some people can be strong without steroids.
