David Lee Roth Named A Bad Tipper

Rocker David Lee Roth has landed himself on a list of penny-pinching celebrity diners who leave stingy tips - after giving a waiter a 10 per cent bonus.

The Van Halen frontman reportedly racked up a $200 bill while recently dining at a restaurant in San Antonio, Texas - and left just $20 for his server. And now the disgruntled employee is exacting revenge by naming the star on the 'S**tty Tipper Database' on Internet site BitterWaitress.com.

The unnamed waiter writes, "Not only did the superc*%k star send his steak back because it had butter on it - 'What's this? Take it away!' he said right as the steak was placed in front of him, but the cheap ass f*#ker left 10 f**kin' per cent! What a 'Jump' Chump!"

A representative for Roth tells New York gossip column PageSix, "It doesn't sound like David at all."

I normally only tip 10% anyway.

But if we where well look after, the food was good and I really enjoy my self I will go up to 30%.

Normal meal, normal tip.

We don't really do tips in the UK - maybe at the odd restaurant if the food and/or service is especially good but not all the fucking time like they do in the States. When I went to Vegas I got sick of tipping every fucker that came my way I eventually stopped doing it. Did my head in.

Actually, I'm not sure just how credible an anonymous "server" is.  Even a named server generally does not inspire a lot of confidence.

You ever see two waitresses argue over a tip?  Brutal.  The only thing worse would be two rabbis arguing over a tip:  "I circumcised him; I should get to keep it!"

That is when you go to the manager and ask for a refund or a price reduction.  You don't fault the waitress.  So by your logic if you see a movie you don't like you blame the ticket person at the box office.

The ticket seller does not demand a tip!
You just pay and get your ticket.
Waiters and waitresses you pay for the food, then they still want bucks on top of that.

I am not scared to tip 10% even more if I felt it worth it.
If I dont feel that the waitress deserved it why must I be extorted into giving a tip?
For me to have a good time the food must be good, the service must be good, the setting or mood must be good and my company must be good.
They are in controll of the first 3.

Hotel staff in Japan do expect a tip and will stand there until you do. I've travelled to both Tokyo and Nagoya. I read about the non tip rule in Japan and was rather suprised when I encountered it.

That is why I ask to see the ticket she wrote my order on. If I asked for something up front, in this case butter on my steak, and it wasn't there when the order came out- I want to see if she wrote it down on the ticket. If not, then she IS to blame. If the request is there, then the waiter is at fault.
I also like to write on the receipt what was wrong with the service, this way the owner/waiter/waitress knows why he/she/they got screwed.
Better service=better tip. Worse service=worse tip.
The more you screw up, and continue to do so, the more you get screwed IF you get a tip.
Tipping is based on how well you provide service. We, as customers should NOT be obligated to tip even if the service was horrible.
