It's called living up to the image he is famous for. Like everyone wanting Jimi Hendrix to always burn his guitar (I think he only did so once, at Monterey), Wes Montgomery to play octaves, or another hit maker to "remake" the same old song over and over again till the well for that market runs dry.
Hulk changed the image for awhile, but there's a reason he went back to the original look....it had more appeal to the fans of his persona.
