I bet your friend is always accused of acting like he is better then the "others", when he is really just being himself and not feeding into some kind of stereo typical way of acting.

This guy grew up in a terrible neighborhood, parents were poor, but instead of trying to "fit in" with the crowd and indulge in crime and thuggery, he decided to be an individual. Doesn't mean he was acting white, but was smart enough to see in this country if you are motivated and have a goal, you don't have to be a statistic. There are plenty of successful Blacks out there, but they don't seem to be looked up to by the black community as a whole unless they are a Rapper or a Basketball player. People like Colin Powell, Condoleeza Rice, Bill Cosby don't seem to be too popular in the Black Community. When Bill Cosby spoke out against Black Youth's pathetic academic records, ridiculous style of dressing, inability to speak the English language, and propensity for killing, his message was not well received. They'd rather hear Sharpton (who was recently in my town defending teens that committed a horrible rape against a woman, forcing the son to have sex with the mother, pouring ammonia and bleach into their eyes, taking turns on the mom and beating them. He said the suspects were being treated unfairly because the judge wouldn't post bail)blame the white man.

I believe it was Chris Rock who said it best, there are blacks and then there are n**gers. The blacks that are ambitious, talk normal, and contribute to society are upstanding people who get no gripes from anyone but the biggest of human trash.
