Kimbo vs Tank!
« on: February 09, 2008, 05:15:10 PM »
What do you think of this fight?

I have Tank winning by tko-ref stoppage after he gets the takedown on kimbo and gnp him on the ground 1min 23 seconds into the first round!

i want to see tank win...but on the other hand i think it would be cooler if kimbo won, therefor dana white would be more likely to give him a ufc fight, then they could put him in there against someone that can really bang like cro cop or gonzaga

Tank is washed up and getting old. He still knows how to punch but his last fights were an embarrassment and his gas tank keeps getting smaller. He's what, 1-7 in his last 8 fights?

Kimbo on the other hand is full of hunger to prove himself, loves to train and is getting better every day, can execute a gameplan and has Bas Rutten as a world class coach. His gas tank seems ok looking at the kind of training he goes through. This is his first "real" test tho.

Experience has told me that the guy that wants it the most and trains that way usually wins(unless completely outclassed), and in this case it's kimbo.

If I were kimbo my gameplan would be to counterpunch and let tank gas. Once he starts gassing, increase the pressure and when he get really tired take him down and mount/gnp or submit him. Slugging it out from the start would be very risky with the knockout ability of tank. Abusing his severe stamina weakness and avoiding his powerful right hand is the way to go.

Either way I can't see this fight going over a single round.

Tank is only in his 40's, he's a young gun still!  ;)

His last fights wasn't so bad, he doesn't fight cans. He's not the first guy to get knocked out by Buentello. And Gary Turner is an experienced K-1 fighter. His third most recent fight was against Yoshida (who a few months before lost by split decision to Wanderlei Silva) and he fought him for over 7,5 minutes before getting submitted.

If you don't see it going over one round, gassing shouldn't be much of a problem...

TEAM TANK!

I'll be watching Kimbo beat that ass tonight.  Tank is done.

Bluto, If you got so much faith in Tank put your account on the line.

Kimbo never been on the ground. How long he's been training with Bas? 6 months? Not enough.

Tank should be able to take him to the ground, GNP him and have the ref stop it.

Now if Tank decides to bang with Kimbo in the middle of the ring, it could of course end differently.

There's also the risk that the match is fixed to build Kimbo up  :-\

tank??  ::)

stick a fork in him.

tank was never the type of fighter that was going to have a long shelf life. he's way past the use-by date and is more an embarrassment now than a lively opponent.

yes, he has skills and experience over kimbo, but kimbo has too much of the other stuff that has long left tank.

kimbo by stoppage in first round.

he aint been around for some time now.

you're right, kimbo's a novice but, let's be real here, his stand up looks a lot better than tank's, especially lately and you can go 50 50 on ground skills. tank is limited on the ground.

if tank comes to bang (can he do anything else):

power:      even
speed:      kimbo
stamina:    kimbo
technique: kimbo
chin:         tank (kimbo's got a good beard but it hasn't been tested yet)
heart:       kimbo (at this point in time)
experience:tank

kimbo stops him 1st rnd. what he lacks in experience he makes up for in a great trainer and heart, which tank sorely lacks now.

Kimbo no doubt.

Tank only fights cause thats all he knows...thats what puts the bread on the table.  He's only there to make money...so really, he doesn't care about winning IMO.
