Chinese colonization of Africa
« on: February 14, 2008, 11:34:37 PM »
The Chinese are making aggressive inroads into Africa, taking advantage of the rich resources and cheap labor available there.  Already, there are well over a half-million Chinese there, over 900 businesses, and over $6 Billion in investments.  Africa is quickly being seen as grounds for moving many more Chinese to the region to help alleviate the vast pollution and overpopulation in their own land.

Here is an article that alludes to the US policy of seeing Russia as a rapidly growing threat all the while ignoring or downplaying the Chinese one.  This also discusses some more aspects of the African frontier.

I think that within 5 years China will be the number one superpower in the world.   This expansion will only help.

Yeah but we're all over the place as well...the US will take a major role in Africa over the next decade. The US has or is setting up AFRICOM to deal with emerging AQ threats to stability in the region. We're not ignoring China, but we're not going to try and make headlines and cause problems where issues don't exist. We riled up Iran for no real reason....so will just play our games against them...War-Horse...China may become an economic superpower soon...not 5 years but soon. Their military is growing but atleast 2 generations behind the West in many areas.

But china is buying alot of  American property and has lent the US countless billions of dollars.       As the dollar weakens (Which may be part of  china plans as borrowing raises inflation)

They will call in on debts, and switch to another currency, leaving us sitting ducks with valuless money.... Even military money would be gone.

Right.

The sad thing is that the expansionist Chinese have built up so much momentum in their takeover of the U.S. that we cannot possibly stop the avalanche.

In the next 80-100 years, I predict China will become the single, dominant superpower.   :-\

Nah, we're too good to let that happen.

I know it sounds cocky or silly, but seriously... when it comes to anything[i/], would you really bet against the USA?  We have the smartest people in the world doing the coldblooded shit it takes to stay on top.

China can never just decide to 'call in' the debt one day- it'll be a slow thing over decades and decades.

China cannot afford the US Dollar to fall.  Remember- when you owe the bank $10,000, they own you.  When you owe the bank ten million $, YOU OWN THEM.  China has a greater interest in the US surviving than we do :)

We'll see a trend toward global ownership of US assets, sure.  But when the shit hits the fan- when an asteroid clips us, when water dries up, global warming hits, etc etc, the safest place in the world to be sitting will be in the USA.

US can't sustain the imperialistic growth of the past century, Africa is a valuable asset 2nd largest gold producing country, with the LARGEST plutonium reserves in the world.

Exactly,  and it is to Africa's benefit for them to get their shit together, and stop with this ethnic  and tribal warfare, it is tearing her countries apart. If they wish to exploit their own resources let it be, but not the Chinese, the Chinese will just do what the Europeans did. They don't care about Africans, only their resources. They will appear to like them, but practice cowboy capitalism, just look at what they do with intellectual property.

Africans despotic rulers ned to wake up and smell the coffee,  because this does not bode well, it could end up into a bigger situation, that what it is now. And how is China supposedly gonna dump 300 million people into  African nations? If they do, that means Africa's flora and fauna are gonna suffer, because  greedy land grand grabbers are gonna cut down Rainforests, and use that for wood and land. Or Paving over Africa's Savannah's, which is one of the calling cards of Africa.. There are so many thing wrong with this, I am very appalled, this article deeply disturbs me.

To bad the natives just want to run around killing eachother, this helps china in EVERY way... :-\

Africa is too fucked up to get their shit together.

They've never had great civilizations due to not having great river systems south of the Sahara. Now they've got the means through huge natural resources, but the thing is that they can't extract any of it because they don't have the means to.  :-\ Too much infighting between tribes, dictators and people being held down by their own kind. Nothing new.. It happens in all third world countries.

Fuck the Chinese.  :)

Good luck trying to get something of value out of Africa. Maybe China can pay for the AIDS drugs instead of us.
