Teaching Phil his secrets- what will it cost Jay?
« on: February 17, 2008, 05:25:41 PM »
It's commonly believed that Cutler will retire after winning Olympia #3 in 2008.

Phil Heath stayed with Jay in 2007 in Vegas, learning the 'tricks of the trade' - and we can see from the new look that Phil Heath has been able to grow significantly in just a few months.

If Phil finishes #2 at the O to Jay, then Jay's tutleage will have cost him nothing, and he'll likely be a sought-after trainer/prep guy for upcoming pros in the future- if nothing else, Jay has his science down.

But what if Phil upsets Jay at the O?  Phil was so far ahead of everyone at the Ironman, and it's likely he'll win the Arnold if Dex is off in any way.  What if Phil beats Jay and walks away with the top paycheck?  Since Victor is likely out for the Olympia, and Dex will never beat Jay in a contest again, did Jay just make his only legit threat in 2008 better?

The problem here is that you assume contests are judged fairly.  Like US presidents, winners are selected, not voted in.  :)

Agreed with MATTC.

Cutler will win one more...and, even still, Heath still has a year or two before he can win the O anyhow...Cutler or not.

So, the answer, IMO, is "no"....It'll cost Jay nothing

I don't think Jay would be too hurt even if Phil did beat him. Jay knows the end is near in his career and that way he can say he helped build a winner. But don't forget a) Jay is going to win again and b) we have yet to see what Wolf looks like.

heath looked a tad smaller then gustavo in quite a few poses. gustavo llooks alot smaller then cutler and wolf standing next to them, wich should give you an idea of whats to come..
heath will have no chance this yr against another 10 lbs heavier wolf and cutler 06 version...

heath in the 230 will be tiny compared to cutler wolf in the 270,280's

it was the ironman with 220 lb silvio, mr gut gustavo, and some no name,, see what happens at the asc

the best he will do at the 0, is 4th or fifth!

Wolf will destroy Heath...overall shape, width, tiny waist....better back, chest...somethings are lacking but Wolf will be a monster at the O...275 and shredded....

Did Cutler get a significant bit of help with judging in 2007?

Of course.  He admitted that himself, saying "if I can win being as off as I was, imagine how well I'll do when I'm in shape".

However, he could get injured, or he could come in so far off that they wouldn't be able to give him the trophy.  If it's within a country mile, he'll get the crown.  But he could blow it.  Last year was close - most in the industry had Vic winning it.  If Phil brings a package that is 6 months better than the Ironman, and Jay is off like he was in 2007, who knows.

jay won't win this year, IMO. this will only mean that jay will have to compete in 2009 so that he can win back his title. it will be a marketing scheme, tickets sales will be at an all time high in 2009 and even bigger in 2010 when jay retires and the title of Mr.o is up for grabs. the year of Dennis Wolf is approaching!  ;D

Phil is a better bodybuilder than Jay and much more enjoyable to look at.

Jay will win. Why sit here and discuss anything else. Phil Heath is about 2 years away from the title. Unless Dennis Wolf get signed by muscle tech and weider then Phill will have a legit threat. Ask Mr.Wienberger and Gerard Dente how they got Victor to take the Arnold??

lol!................Phil is not even close to Jay yet (and by the time that he is........Jay will have retired)

Phil= great BB but...............Narrow structure, great "limbs" but not so great torso (very "Leveronish like")

Jay= freaking freak of nature!...........wide wide wide
big freaky chest,"limbs" and BACK  .....
Jay will easily "outmass" Phil
