If he becomes president, I'm going to be really, really, really depressed. I didn't like Gore very much, but I was somewhat disappointed when the Supreme Court decided to give the 2000 election to Bush. this election, however, could really be a heart-breaker....especially if Obama is the Dem candidate.
I can't stand McCain for several reasons.......
1. He is a survivor, but he has never proven himself worthy. Got into the Naval academy because of his connections, made a fool of himself there. Became a pilot, made a fool of himself again. Became a naval desk jockey, made a fool of himself. Got married, made a fool of himself and his wife. Got to the senate, where surrounded by other fools, he was able to camouflage himself, but still was able to earn a sketchy record (hello, my wife's stealing drugs, I'm in bed with Charles Keating, fleecer of the American people).
2. If Barack represents everything that is best about contemporary America (where, if you're smart enough, and willing to work, it doesn't matter who your parents are, and where you come from. you can still go all the way to the top), McCain represents all that is ugly. Unstable (temper, loyalties, etc), with an arrogant belief that might can make right (barbara ann). Someone able to live in Washington for decades and thrive in that atmosphere.
3. McCain is someone who Republicans will "reluctantly" vote for because of some misguided belief that somehow Bush's economic policies are going to help us keep going forward. Have they taken a look around? WE're fucked... And yet, as long as there's an extra grand or two in their pocket, they don't care that we've hocked our collective future with the Bush version of Reagonomics (deficit spending). Sad. The "cut government spending" litany is bullshit. They're willing to piss billions away on unwinnable wars, but God forbid that we do things at home that will prevent a meltdown. What the fuck do they think a million foreclosed families are going to do?
Come on America, don't disappoint.....
