I always think that the "hook" in Duchaine's writing was his propensity (whether deliberate or not) for mystification...
Would it work if a "natural" trainer promulgated common sense training theories coloured by the inference of "secret", "underground" or "suppressed" knowledge?
This certainly seems to be at least part of the appeal of HIT and Heavy Duty, and certainly goes some way to explaining the almost religious zeal attending those philosophies. In my experience High Volume trainers simply don't know any better... but HIT trainers BELIEVE!
Of course the HIT trainers are right, but that's a different discussion.
