Fourth Bourne movie announced

Fantastic news  8) Just don't fuck it up..

Universal has announced a fourth movie in the hit Bourne franchise.

Star Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass will return for the new instalment, reports Variety.

The pair are currently working together on Iraq-set thriller The Green Zone, after which Damon will shoot Steven Soderbergh’s The Informant.

Greengrass directed the second and third films in the series, which is based on author Robert Ludlum's trilogy.

It was reported in 2006 that the franchise may stretch to five movies, but both Damon and Greengrass were reluctant to continue after the third film.

Damon insisted last year that he was "definitely done" with playing hitman Jason Bourne, saying: "I think we've ridden that horse as far as we can."

The Bourne Ultimatum won three technical awards at last night's Oscars.

The books are nothing like the films, as usual.  The Ultimatim book has Bourne as a 40+ year old man.

That's why I haven't seen the previous two. I read the Bourne Identity book, then watched the film, saw that they were completely different and decided to give up catching up with the rest. Wasn't impressed.

Ed Norton In Talks For A Villainous Role In The Bourne Legacy!
The former Bruce Banner from 2008's The Incredible Hulk is in negatotions to face off against off The Avengers' Jeremy Renner in upcoming movie, The Bourne Legacy...
It looks like we can expect Hawkeye and the Hulk to face off on the big screen in more than just The Avengers, as it has tonight been revealed that former Bruce Banner, Ed Norton, is in talks to play the villain in The Bourne Legacy. Here is an excerpt from the report over at Variety.

Edward Norton is in negotiations to play the baddie in "The Bourne Legacy," Variety's Justin Kroll and Jeff Sneider exclusively report. ony Gilroy will direct from a script he wrote. While plot details are under wraps, it's known that Jason Bourne will not be featured -- Renner will play another assasin trained in the same program.

What do you guys make of this news? There's no doubting that these are two quality actors, and it should be quite something seeing them face off on the big screen! Wonder how awkward it'll be when they start chatting about The Avengers though, eh? Be sure to share your thoughts on all this in the usual place!

With Jeremy Renner apparently signed up to play the lead character, The Bourne Legacy is set to be released on August 3rd, 2012!

Eric Van Lustbader couldn't hold a candle to the original books by Robert Ludlum.

...Lustbader made it totally unrealistic.

Deadline is reporting that Oscar Isaac - best known for his roles in Sucker Punch and the upcoming Drive - has landed a role in the upcoming Bourne spinoff/sequel, The Bourne Legacy; he will portray a 'major' character known as 'Number 3'. Nothing else is known about the role other than the fact that the character is 'another brainwashed assassin'.

Damon and Renner to Team Up in Fifth Bourne Movie?

Empire talked to The Bourne Legacy director/co-writer Tony Gilroy, producer Frank Marshall and star Jeremy Renner.

Renner told the magazine that his character, Aaron Cross, is "coming from a completely different background to Jason [Bourne]. He knows exactly who he is; he signed up to this...He wants to be part of a team. I can tell you he was in the military then he joined the [program]. He's a person who wants to be part of something... to have a sense of purpose. But then it's taken away."

Marshall, however, dropped the more interesting bit: "You see there are several different [programs] in the movie with different skill sets. All possibilities are open. My dream is that in the next one we see Matt and Jeremy team up."

That would be quite something. The action thriller, also starring Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, Albert Finney, Joan Allen, Scott Glenn, Stacy Keach and Oscar Isaac, opens in theaters on August 10

Universal Confirm Plans For THE BOURNE LEGACY And TED Sequels

Despite not being a massive success wither at the box office or with critics, Universal are moving ahead with a sequel to The Bourne Legacy. In some slightly more exciting news, they are also working on another instalment of Seth MacFarlane's Ted.

Universal Developing Another ‘Bourne’ With Jeremy Renner

Universal is moving forward a fifth iteration of “The Bourne Identity” franchise, tapping Anthony Peckham to write the script to the next movie.

The story will center on Aaron Cross, the black ops character introduced by Jeremy Renner in 2012′s “The Bourne Legacy.”

Frank Marshall and Captivate Entertainment’s Ben Smith and Jeffrey Weiner are on board to produce the fifth “Bourne.” Marshall also produced “The Bourne Legacy,” which was directed by Tony Gilroy.

Matt Damon, who portrayed Jason Bourne in the first three films, indicated earlier this year that he would not return to the franchise unless Paul Greengrass was directing. Greengrass directed the second and third films.

Jason Bourne is based on the character created by novelist Robert Ludlum. “The Bourne Legacy” grossed $276 million worldwide.

Peckham’s credits include “Sherlock Holmes” and “Invictus.” He is repped by WME and Anonymous.

News of Peckham’s attachment was first reported by Deadline.com
