squat problem I need help with...
« on: February 25, 2008, 02:34:23 PM »
hey guys today I've finally figured out my problem with heavy shit when I go for maxes. When I squat down and start on my way back up.. MY ASS AND LEGS GO UP AND STRAIGHTEN OUT BUT MY UPPER BODY DOESN'T MOVE! It becomes more of a goodmorning on the way up than a squat! When I  don't do it I HAMMER heavy weights but on both my attempts today I did it where my ass would shoo up and legs would be locked out already abut i'd still be bent over..what is that? And how can I stop it?

Drive your head back into the bar out of the hole.

Pull your elbows down under you, not up behind you.

Improve your upper back strength to maintain your arch and the path of the barbell

train your abs more and push them into your belt harder.

Without seeing how you missed, these are generalizations, but should help you out some.

thanks man...

yeah I started doing one arm barbell deadlifts from the sides, not using my belt so much, kettle bell swings, etc. trying to help build them up. I stil haven't done any direct ab work. Yeah I'm thinking I'm a lazy girl HAHA

I'm terrible at squats also.  I had a problem with my left knee popping out of place.  I ignored this for some time and it's something that will be a problem for the rest of my life.  Very weak knee makes heavy squats hard.
