Oh i've heard some good stories of ole' brett back in his heydey from some of my older friends who were going out to local bars in the mid to late 90's!  Brett was quite the party animal.

he's not really retiring.

if they had signed Moss yesterday, he wouldn't have felt 'burned out' or whatever he said today.

They were the 2nd best team in the NFC and the giants got weaker thru free agency.

Pack would be among favorites to win SB this year.

He'll be back, and it'll be abig locker room story drama.

I agree. He retires in March, come summer when training camp opens up he'll have a "change of heart" and will be back on the field.

I pray you're correct.  Everyone around here figured he would be coming back, as the team isnt losing any big name players and they should be a threat next year.

Yes, he was a legend.  Even Minnesotans like myself have to admit that.

favre made it well known that last year the packers should have gone after moss in free agency.

the day after new england re-signs moss, favre retires.

this is not coincidence- maybe he feels the packers didnt pursue moss actively enough.

i think this is for real, and smart- going out after playing your best season ever will only help cement his soon- to- be legacy of being the best quarterback in the history of the game.

I won't believe it until opening day comes around, and he's not starting at QB.

Yep, until A-Rod takes that first snap, I'm not believing anything!

Who would be his replacement? The current backup or a new trade or draftee?

Most likely Rogers. He knows the offense and has been waiting in the wings for a few years.

Earl,

What the hell are you talking about?

How do you figure he refused to mentor Aaron Rodgers?

mainly because of his mentality towards the game. he looked like he loved to play. he also won a sb for gb. and dont forget in gb, they really dont have anything else as far as pro sports so its much more personal with them. favre always gave off the "just one of the boys" attitude, you could picture him having a beer in an old bar, or fishing.
imo he is not in my top 10 list of qb's though. but he was fun to watch.

I know all about man love for a qb - (Tom Brady is the qb of my fav team), but I have to say; the man love for Brett knows NO bounds. If any other QB did half the shit that Brett did over his career - (abuse pain Killers, lose huge games) he would be crucified..... Now before all you packer fans come to Boston and kill me, I have to say that  I think Brett was a great qb, and to win three consecutive MVP titles is just sick! BUT, Brett does get a pass for all his "screw up's" in the biggest of games, and at times his bad attitude...

The man love for Brett is a little much these days, and you know it’s true!

Well, consider the source, dude. As a fan, you should probably only listen to the opinions of sportscasters that have actually played the game.

Clayton looks like some sort of diminutive, little nerd elf. And what's with his fucking hair? He has this nasty looking comb over with shaved sideburns.

I think most of the espn goofs have some kind of an agenda to push, and very few if any actually research what they are talking about.  Sometimes I hear certain former players - ( Shannon Sharp , Merril Hodge) say things that are so stupid it makes me laugh........

Oh, believe you me...there are some former NFL players that sound like dipshits but I find that most of those guys are the players that just recently retired. Emmitt talks, for example  like he has marbles in his mouth. And Shannon Sharpe needs a speech coach. His lisp is so annoying.

I do like Keyshawn Johnson, though. Definitely doesn't mince words.

But I guess I prefer to hear the opinions of sports guys that have actually played the game. Especially if the topics of discussion are judgements being handed down against current NFL players.

clayton is arguably the most respected nfl source, unlike peter king who reports nothing but bullshit

why does somebody need to play the game just because his sources tell him brett is all about himself?

yeah clayton looks like a geek but so what?  you don't have to look as good as Mr. Levrone to be a good reporter 8)
