We are all here because we aspire to be great and lift the most weight possible.
What are your goals for this year? Pegg, Vet, wicked, Overload, Nash, and anyone else put up your goals.
“The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark.” Michelangelo
Heres my goals for 2008:
-Qualify for nationals. -Take first in a gold or platinum level competition. -Deadlift 700+lbs and OHP 350+lbs. -80ft under a minute with 800+lb Yoke. -350lbs/hand Farmers for 80ft.
So theres a few that I want to hit within the year. Not out of my grasp but would certainly be an achievement!
Put yours up. Make a commitment to them. Be held accountable. Good luck this year!

right now my goals are to squat 650, put up 450, and deadlift 700. I know I can yank 7 if I get in it..problem is that's the number that has shaken me up forever and I'm determined to do it this year.

My goals are to hit the following numbers drug free after having a full ACL reconstruction 10 months ago. I plan to compete in 100% RAW in 2009 at 220 pounds and i'm shooting for the following. Squat - 545 Bench - 495 Deadlift - 585 Not much compared to what i've done in the past, but i'm still coming back from an injury and plan on being drug free for life. Good stuff guys. I already met my PL goal for this year. Of course, I'd like to exceed it in the bench meet next Sunday. My BB goal for this year is to place Top 5 in my weight class at the NPC Nationals. Next year, my goal will be to do my first full PL meet and to do at least double body weight on the bench press.

I'm using this year to get back into full 3 lift meet competition after a couple of years of doing bench only, local meets and not competing at all because of school. Right now I'm shooting for a full meet later this spring, but I've recently had some health problems I have to get straight and work scheduling before I know 100% for sure if I'm doing it. I'm also looking at a full meet in the fall. My goal is to total ELITE@SHW if everything goes as planned and I get my shit straight. If I don't do it this year, I will next year--all I need is 800, 600, 600 . I might do one raw bench contest too, I just don't know yet. I also NEED to get my shit together so I can credential for ABVP-Avian boards so I can take the test next year and I've got two more papers and a research project to get published so I can start credentialing for ACZM boards and be ready to take that test in 2 years. Combine that with the 5 papers sitting on my desk I haven't got done yet, I really, really need to spend some time this year reading and writing and not goofing off on message boards.

Thanks, but i've just always been good at pressing movements. ACL is 100% but my surgeon doesn't want me maxing out until 18 months after surgery, so i have 7 months left until i can "test" it. Right now i'm doing lots of agility training that is similar to strongman training. i carry objects up and down stairs, run with heavy objects...etc. my physical therapist is having me do the most advanced PT protocol he could think of and it's working. i also run sprints twice a week. the numbers i put up in my original post are a rough estimate, but i feel i should be able to hit those numbers in 2009, as i have done more than that in the past and my knee is feeling 100% already so i just need time to work back up to where i was. i'm actually the strongest i have been in bench right now because that wasn't affected by the knee surgery. i was back to heavy benching 4 weeks after surgery with a leg brace on...lol

Those are all great goals guys, (and Lori) but most are not posting "their" weights. If you bench 225 and you're a 90lb female lifting "raw", then you totally rock! If you do the same weight and you're a 190 lbs, then "not so much"...Powerlifting is sooooo much fun! I love watching the "monsters" of powerlifting do their thing at meets. These guys are benching volkswagons!

indeed. what's weird is the powerlifters never really have great physiques, they just look big, like bulky. They get the job done though so whatever. I think I'd take physique over strength anyday.

Hows everyone coming along on the goals? I am close to my OHP goal of 350 (got 325) and will be getting that nationals qualification soon! First in a high level comp is reaching but I will bust my ass when I get there. Lets get some updates!

Hows everyone coming along on the goals? I am close to my OHP goal of 350 (got 325) and will be getting that nationals qualification soon! First in a high level comp is reaching but I will bust my ass when I get there. Lets get some updates! Sure: I'm using this year to get back into full 3 lift meet competition after a couple of years of doing bench only, local meets and not competing at all because of school. I did my first full meet in a long time last month. It went good, not as good as I'd like, but it was still good. I went: squat: 605 (super easy), 690 (easy too), 775 (missed, shoe collapsed, rolled my ankle, bailed) bench: 455 (easy), 515 (got out of my groove for some reason), 515 (good lift) deadlift 455 (easy), 500, 545 (just missed locking) total: 1705 @ SHW in single ply gear. In retrospect I opened too light with all of my weights in this meet because I was nervous about the gear (I've done way more competitions RAW than I have in gear) and just keeping things together. Most of all I was able to spend the day going through a full meet without my diabetes getting in the way. My glucose levels stayed pretty much stable, and didn't divebomb, forcing me to pull out, which in all honesty, I was afraid might happen. I'm looking at a meet in November where I hope to go 780, 585, 585 (1900 to 1950 total) in single ply gear or so. We'll see how things go with work this summer. If I don't make the meet this fall, I'll probably do one in Feb or so next spring. It depends on the schedule. Yeah right..... I've been buried with work. I've at least got outlines nad literature pulled for the articles, but nothing submitted for publication as of yet. Hopefully I'll fix that soon enough.
