Marketing shift in the supplement "industry"?

EAS have dropped their bodybuilders. A couple of other Walmart/Mainstream vendors have done the same.

The recent "Asylum-train-like-a-freak" marketing model isn't working much from what've heard. Even Universal's Animal Packs sales are down and the company is planning on revamping their "hardcore" image, seems there are less and less people who wants to train in black and white in a dungeon.

Maybe I'm getting older but I'll buy the 'marketed like Met-Rx' product over the insano-blood-rush-seizure or the 8th grade level 2 pages of "scientific" infrared shit à la 'MuscleTek'.


www.trueprotein.com like companies rule, just makes more sense. Don't sell me shit in a fancy wrapper.

Sure. But sadly, there are TONS of dumb people who fall for advertising and shiny wrappers.


A person with a working brain would not care that Michael Jordan wears (or claims to anyways) Hanes underwear, or that he endorses Rayovac batteries. However, the feeble minded among us, do believe and fall for silly shit like Ronnie Coleman saying he's getting his best "pumps" ever, on NO Xplode.

Well, considering that there are more "beach body" types in gyms, than there are "bbers", yeah, I can see how that trend will continue.


Let's face it, with the current witch hunt, NOBODY wants to associated with roids, in anyway, shape or form.

These 42yo sticktards have started a "caveman" training which pretty means flipping a monster 35" tire or pullin' a 80lb trailer while screaming to release the "animal" ::)

I usually park my truck in the middle of the lot and wave gently at them while ignoring their "please move" "gestures" ;D

They may make more sense to us but you don't make as much money selling protein in plain plastic bags. From what I've heard there's not much profit to be made from bulk protein powders. You have to do a lot of volume for it to be profitable. You're not selling "a dream" to kids with plain protein powder. Scam shit like ALRI, Animal Pak, Muscle-Tech with their fancy labels and exotic ingredients is much cooler to impressionable kids.

Moreover, they seem to hold a trance-like spell over its pros that they have under contract, as they give pathetic, idiotic plugs about their *products* every other word (see Bob Chick's Ironman video series on bbuilding.com---and Bob Chick himself). alex23 my brother, the honest truth is you do not need protien powders. you carry alot of muscle, do not fall in the hype, you need FRUIT first and formost then meat/eggs thats it.. all the white grains are by the white devil my friend..

Supplement companies can make for more money selling there products to beach body types, average people, and athletes. The Gen Y generation is the next big spending Demographic, and they will eventually have more spending power then baby boomer's ever did.

The vast majority of "Gen Y" spenders are not bodybuilders, they are young people - (15 - 34 year olds).. Athletes, "beach body" types - people who want to "stay in shape - (thirty somethings / twenty somethings), and overweight, insecure people.....

Most gen y spenders are busy, they are working all the time - going to school, and playing sports. Gen Y spenders don't have the time to live the bodybuilding lifestyle - ( Hence them buying products they think can give them a quick fix)..

It's funny you mention that.......just the other day, I saw one of the personal trainers at my gym, take a guy (who basically never trained before) and had him do front  squats on one of those. I felt bad for the bastard......fs's are tricky and not what I would consider a beginners movement.
