the States need to legalize Prostitution

Enough of this Puritan hypocrisy.  Everyone's fucking around, and some people are getting unduly penalized for it.

Fully agree, however, it will never happen. The world's biggest consumer and producer of pornography is quite hypocritical on issues of sex and morality.

Spend a couple of hours watching television in Europe or places like Brazil and you'll see how prudish American television is in comparison.

If that were legalized, the balance of power between the sexes would be tipped intolerably & possibly irretrievably for those who advocate the status quo.

Perhaps "balance of power between the sexes" was an innappropriate choice of words, however the thrust of my argument had more to do with a woman's control of her own body.

That wasn't however what I was thinking when I posted that, ...but since you phrase it like that, it is.
It's not a woman's only power, ...but it is one of them. To fail to acknowledge that, or even to deny it strikes me as naive at best if not somewhat disengenuous.

Don't underestimate the ability to bring a child into the world. It is the only way the species survives.

As for the sexual aspect of "a woman's power being or not being between her legs", ...there are an awful lot of folks who not only believe it is, but govern their lives accordingly. And when people act on and/or make decisions because of something, that's a very powerful influencer, and the ability to influence is power.

Tell Spitzer there's no power there. He might disagree. Tell Clinton, ...a man who dodged every bullet, but couldn't dodge that one that there's no power between a woman's legs (or lips in his case) and he'd disagree, ...as would Hugh Hefner & Larry Flynt. Empires, both national & financial, have been built and have fallen, ...based upon the power that lays between a woman's legs.

What we as a society ought to be doing is teaching little girls & little boys how best to harness this power to affirm & enrich life, rather than exploiting it for selfish gain. If you recklessly play with a fire-breathing winged dragon long enough, you will eventually get burned. Denying the winged dragon can even breathe fire is a sure-fire way to ensure you get burned.

My friend would often say that "the space between a womans legs is the most powerful piece of real estate on earth, and also the most expensive."

Dude,

Think an independent thought for yourself.

Screaming about getbig libs defending spitzer - when there are none - is textbook KarlRovian Schizophrenia.

Back when Spitzer was bringing down Prostitution rings,  nobody on here complained then,  or said  "the States need to legalize Prostitution"

Just becuase people don't talk about it doesn't mean they don't think it.   I'm not defending sptizer, he needs to get what he deserves.....  however, legalizing prostitution are among some non-victimized crimes that should be legalized.

Can you honestly say that if it would have been a Republican caught, that you would be on here saying it should be legalized ?

That he brought up the issue when the issue is in the news isn't a shock, that happens all the time, all the time.  There is nothing in statement's made here excusing Spiter's hypocrisy.  You're making a beef about nothings.  We all agree he should pay the price for doing what he went after others for.

Since spitzer's been caught, that last post is the first time I've said it and it was only becuase the subject was brought up.

But, I've always been one against criminalizing things like that and pot.

So if a republican was caught i would do just like i did with spitzer, likely comment on the legalization of prostitution if it was brought up.

But you see, in Sptizer's case, he crusaded to incarcerate anything and anyone in prostitution which makes this guy some who show be punished fully in my book.

So if, your premise is that liberals only are saying this as a defense of a dem, it falls well short with me.

I actually think there should be some level of legalized prostitution, but I thought that before this.  I think Eldon wants to think we made up our mind to defend Spitzer. lol... You can't stop prostitution, but if there is some level of legal prostitution, it seems to be much safer for everyone and cuts out the disgusting abusive pimps taking advantage of the women involved.  It looks like what they got in Nevada is a whole lot better than the crap these women endure in other places.

Well we wouldn't know, with what the republicans have been doing, do you want us to pop up and say it should be legal to have sex in the airport restroom or solicit underage male pages :D  Ah, who would make that case ::)

Thanks for making my point Hugo  ;D

I don't recall anyone on here defending Larry Craig's actions.

But I do see some the GetBig Liberals coming out in defense of prostitution, BUT only after their Hero Spizter was caught   :o

Spitzer was doing good work.  He traced the housing scandal right to the Bush administrations doorstep.  It's a shame he's got to go.

He is a self righteous, arrogant Politician, who thought he was above the Law

And to answer Hugo,

What Craig and Spitzer did, was against the Law, plain and simple. Neither of them should be defended.

But the Libs are out today , trying to defend their fallen hero, and once again, it is hypocrisy at it's finest !   :o   :o

Are you referring to President Bush?

Again, nobody is defending Spitzer's actions.

But to draw obvious comparisons with the current anti-constitutional administration and conclude that prostitution just ain't that bad is understandable.

I would compare it to republican scandals but that would be factually challenged.  Republican sex scandals involve only man on man action between consenting adults where money is not exchanged for sex.

yet you still can't name one person here who defends what Spitzer did ::) They're talking about prosititution you clown.  Nobody, nobody is saying it should be legal as a defence of Spitzer.  We all recognize the fact that he did what he went after others for and that he needs to pay the price for that and indeed he is.  Again, it looks like you're the only one here that doesn't get it.  You see we all agree he's guilty of being a hypocrite, but I seem to remember a big defense of Craig by guys like Hannity when that went down ;)  Not on one single progressive program that I've watched have they defended Spitzer bubba.  Not one.  Not on Democracy Now, not on Randi Rhodes, not Keith Olbermann, I haven't heard anyone on the left in the media defend what Spitzer did, but ol Hannity was there for Craig 8)
