bodybuilding used to be different than what you see now days friend,,the drugs were always there but it wasnt to a catastrophic level as of these days,,
why would someone want to be a professional bodybuilder? because you always strive to be the best at what you do and if you can achieve it then why not go for it? when you go into bodybuilding and get into the phase that it becomes yoru life and you have to get into this phase inorder to even win a local show...you stop caring about a lot of things or in other words put them aside for time being,,,family ,,kids,,health,,you just dont think about it deep enough until you face with being in hospital or seeing death in the eyes as i am seeing now my good friend sliding away day by day and he can afford the best terapy in the world and has all the money in the world and has the love of billions of people behind him and you see where it gets him...

in any case,,bodybuilding is a cult,,its an obsession,,it is an ocd,,it has lots to do with insecurities and the ability to over come them which truly never happen because the bodybuilder is always insecure no matter how good he or she is ,,in general there is a reason why specific people decide to choose bodybuilding as a way of life and from there their genetic response to the hormones and drugs is the determine factor of wether they will do damage or not in addition to muscle shape and symetry

many many MANY MANY bodybuilders never get to place top 5 in a national competition or win a professional card,,many of them are HUGE MUSCULAR VEINY GREINY ON ALL THE DRUGS YOU CAN THINK OFF,,DRUG DEALERS,,COPS,,MANY OF THEM WHEN ENTERING THE GYM WITH THEIR 285LB 6 FEET ARE INTIMIDATING AND TRULY HUGE AND MUSCULAR BUT GUESS WHAT THEY NEVER ACHIEVE THIS PRO CARD AND SHRINK INTO NOTHING WITH OUT ACHIEVING THIS PRO CARD AND ALWAYS SEE IT AS A FAILURE,,THEY WONT TELL YOU THAT BUT THEY SEE IT AS A FAILURE,,

I agree with this.  I would never admit it at the time, not even to myself.  But after stopping for over a year now to pursue other things, I look back and that is exactly how it is - for those of us that really took it seriously and competed.

professional bodybuilding is the hardest professional sport you will find,,its nto for everyone and it is redicoule by the people but in reality it takes a brain inaddition to the physiqe to build a champ,,its always this way and many of them could win o with or with out trainers and gurus but it a part of the industry and the cult ,,this is part of it all ,,moment you see potntial 1000 people are all over you ,,part of life,,everyone try to make money off you and  in this time and age succeed

i'd like to mention the fact that being insecure and never satisfied with your own life and achievements is not only a concern for bodybuilders (natural or on steroids) , but it also affects any other men, wether they re artists, your local sales man or burger king employee, etc .

But in the bodybuilding world, it s incredibly obvious because you have these men who look ten times better than anyone else on earth, you know the average skinny fat guy, but STILL FEEL UNHAPPY WITH THEMSELVES !

it's a well known illness amongst bodybuilders, and most medias insist on this point constantly. The re right, but dont forget that even guys without muscles are experiencing the same kind of feelings, so do not just condamn bodybuilders as losers who dont get the point of life and are just too much into narcistic behavior, you ve got to be honnest, every MAN, bodybuilder or not, questions himself about his place in this world, what really matters and what doesn't.

Imo, you ve got to find a balance/equilibrium between your body and mind control, and you must not only focus on only one of these two parts.

I'ts the everyday fight of any man, and it's a tough fight to be content with yourself in a stupid world constantly promoting meaningless crap.

Most of us started lifting weights to cure insecurities, and it may have work for times to times, but only to find out in the end that in only superficaily cured our need to feel better about ourselves...
And that there are others things o fully understand to be truly happy and interesting/useful to the others.

Lifting weights wont make you being a better man, there are other things involved in the process of being a positive and confident man. Too bad we dont talk about it on these internet messageboards, and that we spend most of our time talking about menaingless crap that doesnt even make us feel better about our interogations.

Somehow we re all reponsible for not getting the most out of the formidable tool these messageboards to share our deep thoughts . Being anonymous is another advantage, but it's still not enough for people to simply say what they think, and these "militias" of members constantly dumbing down the others and preventing people from telling what they really think are really a plague to this board.

I think schwarzenegger is the perfect example of the man who s constantly unhappy with his life and who has to constantly aim for higher challenges to fulfil his need of conquest. Does it have any end, or is it a vicious circle?
One thing is sure, maria shriver chaneled over the years his Will, made him keep his feet on the ground , and even if she's not top model, she s far more important to him than any good looking babe because she allowed him to fight his own burning desire of conquering everything .

Basically the point of life is to find the girl who will channel you, and that you will also channel, and bodybuild CAN BE ONE of the means to obtain it,  but there's no way the point of life is to build bigger muscles until you die...

Of course arnie isnt going to tell the world the secret of what truly makes him happy , what makes him feel like he s a real, useful to the others, man; but it's is wife i think. Being able to share verything without any fear of being laughed at or judged with someone, is the real jewel we should all strive to obtain.

dont lure yourself into thinking that looking for the secret, IS the secret ... or you ll end crazy and rejected.
And bodybuilding is imo just a tool to obtain what you truly needs, too bad MOST PEOPLE CANNOT COMPREHEND WHAT TRULY MATTERS, and its mainly because of the stupid society which promotes constantly, 24/24 7/7 bullshit values, brainwash people minds with insane and negative influences trhough TV , internet, radio , movies, magazines etc.

with time after you see that most girls are whores and you get yoru girl and see that there is a lot more than muscle in life ...it becomes an obsession and a goal since you already fell inlove with it and want to accomplish something wether its to make it your job via winning competitions and contracts,,guest posings,,or just to fully establish your potential and get this pro card,,its just become a goal and since you already in it for so long you want to do it and achieve something you dreamed of for so long

 take the salary out of it and you have the mindset that every driven athlete has.. nascar drivers take their life into their hands every race and every practice.. they push the envelope in regards to speed and performance in their cars.. they are willing to take the risks.. now, they make considerably more money than a pro bodybuilder but, every athlete choices his profession.. not all go into for the money.. but, again, the mindset is the same.. as i have said before.. people need to stop over analyzing bodybuilding and just enjoy it for what it is.. if what it is does not appeal to you than take up a different hobby..
