I can think of a 4 :

He wont nationalize Healthcare

His choice of Supreme Court Judges should be less liberal (than Hillary or Obama), so the 2nd amendment, and others should be safe.

He says he wont raise taxes.

He says he wont sign any Bill that has "ear marks" added in..  ( bridge to nowhere )

Now don't get me wrong, I don't care for McCain,  as I am still very upset over the McCain / Kennedy Amnesty 'Shamnesty" he tried to shove through as law. And for this reason alone, I am not sure if I can vote for him.

Good points Eldon.

I've been bugging The Coach for weeks to give me 5 reasons.  He has 1000 reasons why the dems suck, and he's campaigning for mcCain.  I've been waiting for some solid reasons why mccain is better.

Eldon made some good points but to add:

5. Over turn Roe v. Wade

6. Wants to win the war

7. Strengthen the military

8. Build stronger alliances.

9. Secure the borders.

10. Protecting kids from internet porn

The list goes on Rob, but this is all I have time for now.

I like it.  I'd like to hear more about how he'll protect our borders.  He co-authored that bill with Kennedy that stunk to high heaven, and refuses to touch whether he'll make another run at the bill as President... that worries me.

Also - the economy - he completely flipflopped.  Two weeks ago, he said it was strong.  yesterday he said it was in the worst shape since WWII.  Big swing there - I prefer consistent message from the world's biggest mouthpiece.  He's gotta choose a conservative VP who can do math.

They really need to get back to just protecting America...securing the borders and streamlining both our Intel folks and Federal law enforcement. Nothing much has been done since 911 to really tackel these problems. We really failed on the WMD thing and that should have sent a message that our intel systems...humint atleast are broken. We have given teeth to our electronic collection programs but beyond "waterboarding" we have done nothing to better our spy game. The CIA has never accurately predicted the creation or garrisoning (Cuba) of WMD's in their entire history. Frontlines latest program really shows how they all missed the boat on this. We used to put master spys in as the top CIA guys...now its all political appointee's.

YOU give us 5 reasons why Barack or Hillary would be a better candidate...Please?

You act as if the dems are any better than the republicans. Both parties are crap. BOTH parties got is in a war that we should not be in. But, Dems won control of the Senate and the House of Reps by running on the idea that they somehow would be ending the Iraq war effort and bring back the troops. We are still waiting. Yeah, I know. Blame Bush.  ::)

ALL politicians promise and give reasons why they are the better candidate. That all changes once they take office.

Agreed both parties do lots of bad things, but in general, they're working to grow america and make us stronger.  We just have to pick out the candidates who will do more for our nation's progress.

You see his speech today?  He looked more 'together' than ever.

Now he'd just better select a VP who can count.  Talking about iraq's economy today and not ours, gulp...

Coach,

You are getting your hopes way too high !

You say he wants to secure the border ?   this is Bullshit !

Truth: Just 3 weeks ago their was a vote in the Senate, to give extra funding to build the wall, and extra funding for securing the border, and guess what, McCain skipped the vote, he was a no-show.
also he still has the anti-American, pro-Mexican Juan Hernandez on his payroll, this guy is on record saying  that "Texas, New Mexico and California belong to Mexico",  and has called for all hispanics in the USA to be loyal to Mexico first, not the USA.

So it is safe to say that McCain does not want to secure the border, he is only saying this, to appease the Conservatives, like you and me, that he want's the border secured, and you believe his BS !

McCain is for the North American Union, which will destroy the middle Class, and will eventually destroy this great country.

Plus John McCain is a liar, just look how he made up lies about Romney, and was even called out for it in the debate.

Rush is 100 % correct when he says McCain is not a conservative.

Is McCain the least liberal of the 3( McCain, Hillary, Obama)  yes.

but stop fooling yourself into thinking this guy is going to do any of the things you wrote above.

3 Republican senators  said that McCain told them he was not sure if he could vote for Sam Alito, as he was too conservative.

Don't forget that McCain once considered leaving the republican party . but was talked out of it.

Eldon made some good points but to add:

5. Over turn Roe v. Wade mind your own beeswax about what's going on in someone else's vagina*

6. Wants to win the war We attacked/invaded them!!!!!

7. Strengthen the military I'm one million percent in favor of a draft as long as there are no exceptions for college, wealth or any of the other crap people have gotten away with down through the years. A draft is the surest way to end the useless occupation of Iraq and limit the Govt's ability to make war.

8. Build stronger alliances. With whom? We're already giving money to darn near everyone except Great Britan and have essentially installed a permanant military presence between Iran and Israel... what more can we do? Re-enact the draft and invade Iran and a few more countries around them!

9. Secure the borders. Will never happen. Much trash as people talk, no one is gonna pay 5$/head for lettuce and americans aren't gonna work for what mexican illegals will.

10. Protecting kids from internet porn Porn is good

The list goes on Rob, but this is all I have time for now.

....
It's none of my business but this is exactly why I don't understand you.  You've spent the better part of the last few years railing against Bush and his policies.

Now you are going to cast your vote for a candidate that is substantively identical to Bush.

Look at McCain's platform:  Escalation of middle eastern war, More ruinous supply-side tax cuts, and Advocacy of Torture.

Where's the difference from Bush?

And I wouldn't get overly concerned about "who's the most conservative" or "who is the most liberal" b/c those are meaningless pieces of rhetoric.

Reagan was definitely not a conservative.  Bush is not a conservative.  McCain is certainly not conservative.

Fiscally speaking, they are all nightmares.

If McCain wins, do not be surprised that he continues the Bush legacy of debt and incompetence.

As for Obama, his U. HealthCare plan is a dream come true for Big Insurance.  Don't be surprised to see him get a big bump from that.

I don't worry about fat people in the gym - I only worry about my own routine and nutrition.
I don't worry about other web designers - I only worry about my own skills and business.
I don't worry about my neighbor's yard - but I do water my own lawn nightly.

I am the hardest on my own party because I'd like to see people have high standards for it.  When a Repub senator tried to fuck a dude in a mens room, I'd like him out of my party.  I'd like my party not to have any bathroom men-fuckers, ya know?

People who deny their party does any wrong... those are the same folks that say "My kid does not wrong".  They're the same folks that say "My stomach looks just fine" when they have a pot belly.  They're not honest, they have low standards, and they blindly support their "team" and act like it does no wrong.

If it's your job, and you HAVE to, that's fine.  If I work for Pepsi, I can't get on TV and talk about how much Coke rocks.  Bush's spokesman HAS to blindly defend everything he does - beach bum and The Coach do not.

I have high standards and I"m honest.  All 3 candidates are good, and they'll all turn things around once they are at the wheel, if only so they're not attached to the failed bush legacy.

I'm glad your personal ethics are of such a high standard.  I feel the same way.

I'm not sure how that plays out where McCain is concerned.  The man is on the record supporting failed Bush policy after failed Bush policy--Iraq, instigating war with Iran, supply-side tax cuts and torture as a tool of interrogation.

Those are concrete examples of why McCain will be a horrible president.

Those concrete examples are McCain political staples and are taken right out of the Bush playbook.  Where do you see the difference btn John McCain as president and Bush as president?

mccain is like a lot of us... a true repub, who didn't buy into the neocon crap.  almost left, almost ran with kerry, butted heads with bush... now he's - maybe - kissing enough ass to get into power, when he can do what he really wants to do, which is restore the partys' - and nations' - glory.

who knows.  hilary and obama need to work things out tho, that's for sure.  I like to see each side bring their STRONGEST possible candidate so the voters have the best options.

yes, good for the party.  The first one to get their parties nomination usually goes on to win and the dems are indeed falling way behind where they stood againt McCain but the biggest reason is that she's staying in on a giant longshot.  All she can hope for now is some wacked out total destruction of Obama which means all her people are looking into some extremely dirty politcs to grab a reverse in superdelegates and if that's her only chance, that'll just further hurt the party.  Her only chances to win will hurt dems bad.  If she had a realistic chance of winning, I'd say stay in, but the way this has to be played for her to win is going to be a disaster.

So one of McCain's areas of change is kids looking at porn?

You guys should watch how that goes, keep on suppressing natural desires and keep up with the school shootings, your choice I guess :-\

The day I discovered porn on the internet as a teenager was one of the happiest days of my life :)

Great draft idea; I agree with you about the war; and there is no proven link btn porn and bad behavior--there're volumes written on that alleged link.

I'm not sure how you can prove a link, but here is what Ted Bundy had to say:

The night before Bundy was executed, he gave a television interview to James Dobson, head of the evangelical Christian organization Focus on the Family. During the interview, Bundy made repeated claims as to the pornographic "roots" of his crimes. He stated that, while pornography didn't cause him to commit murder, the consumption of violent pornography helped "shape and mold" his violence into "behavior too terrible to describe." He alleged that he felt that violence in the media, "particularly sexualized violence," sent boys "down the road to being Ted Bundys". In the same interview, Bundy stated:

"You are going to kill me, and that will protect society from me. But out there are many, many more people who are addicted to pornography, and you are doing nothing about that."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ted_Bundy
