why anyone would try to smuggle drugs on a plane is beyond me. havent they learnt anything over the past 2 years?

Cambodia is such a poor country and these ppl are desperate. Risking a 5 year jail sentance in a western country is probably better living than they have in their own country. Also the leaders of these drug syndicates probably threaten their families etc if they don't do it.

i see a little clearer now, but the drug lords can surely pay $100 or so US dollars to hire a boat and take it over that way. even with coastguards, it's a million times safer than risking it at the airport.
