Lipstick
« on: April 02, 2008, 05:32:03 PM »
I have a lady friend at the gym I chit chat with; we usually work out at the same time so we see each other almost every day.  Today, I noticed that she wears a lot of make up—especially lipstick.  Then I started noticing that about half the women at the gym (not that there are many) wear lipstick and make up.  Why would you wear make up at the gym where the whole purpose is to work up a sweat (which would ruin your make up?)

Outside the gym it is even worse.  Almost every woman I pass on the street wears a lipstick, lipgloss, and who knows what else?  Doesn’t the lipstick get smudged or ruined when you kiss a guy?  So you always have to redo it?  Do you plan ahead or avoid kissing a guy if you are wearing lipstick?

And guys, doesn’t the lipstick or lip gloss rub off on your lips?  Doesn’t that get annoying after a while?  Do you carry a handkerchief or tissue to clean up the lipstick that rubs off on you?

One of the good things about kissing or making out with a dude is that he never has lipstick on his lips that rub off on you. My other half and I both use Carmex (lipbalm) so that is never a problem. :-*

Bay,
There are many lipsticks today that won't smudge when kissing someone or eating or drinking or sweating.
As well I'm sure, many women prefer wearing a little lipstick to protect their lips, just as you and your partner do with your use of Carmex. Lipstick just adds a little colour.

Think about all the women who go to the gym right after work. I know for me, when I train after work, yes I have on makeup. On the weekends when I go first thing in the morning, I do not.

I like to wear lipstick, gives me some color on my otherwise drab face. However, I am a big chapstick fan too. I much prefer Bee's Wax, you should try it BayGBM! ;)

I have on whatever makeup I had on all day.   I usually don't ever wear lipstick so that is not an issue, I would probably take that off because I would think that would smudge.

When I have gone on the weekend I have put on some makeup - otherwise it looks like I have no eyelashes!!

I can't wear foundations or powders or I break out bad so I've always just worn eye make-up ( varies how much depending on the day and my mood ) and lip gloss that is smear proof .
Not smearproof for kissing reasons , but for the great time it lasts.

Yes I will avaid kissing a man on the lips if I'm wearing it just in case he's got an issue with it .If he kisses me then it's his choice.
Working out is done for me before I go to work so I don't wear it "to" the gym but it would be fine if I did I think

Bay I think if you're speaking of make-up more suitable for nights out , that's different to me.You have my vote that it's seem a little too much to go that far.

Reasonably thinking it's pretty common for women to wear it outside of gym so you will see it more.

Have you tried any of the mineral foundations?  One of them ? Sheer Cover or Bare Minerals? advertises that it's actually "good" for your skin.

I rarely wear lipstick except for evenings out and then half the time I forget to put it on or re-apply it.

Make sure there are no parabens in the mineral makeup.  All mineral makeup is not created equal.

The Bare Minerals line has some products that are paraben free, and some that aren't.  I found out the hard way and was very pissed because they don't list the ingredients for everything.   >:(

I am allergic to parabens.   I currently use  http://www.lumierecosmetics.com/ and have tried http://alimacosmetics.com/  and would recommend either.

You can get trial sizes from both companies which is great when trying to find the right shade and whether you like it or not.

I also have to use paraben free hair products and skin lotions.

Something you might want to look into w8m8!   :)

I tossed all my Bare Minerals, even what was paraben free I didn't like.    >:(

I've heard good things about Jane Iredale.  May try them in the future.  A few local places carry that line.

Do you you use lose powder or one of the others?

One of my girlfriends is an aesthetician and she carries Glo-Minerals.  They have a pressed powder (applied like the loose stuff, with a brush) and it's very nice.  If you're interested and can't find it, I can set you up.

As has been posted it seems like women that have already had make-up on all day are the ones that wear it to the gym.  Although I work out in the mornings and there are 2 ladies that have full make-up on to work out (they don't work a night shift).

As for lipstick, I will wear gloss or balm to the gym but I always try to wear it because my lips can become so dry.  My workout partner used to think it was time to leave when her gloss wore off ::)  she's been broken of that :)

Thanks everyone for the Jane Iredale suggestions I was wondering about that line :)
