People who wear sunglasses at the gym have been known to be highly aggresive.  If you see someone wearing a tapout shirt and sunglasses, JUST LEAVE, its not worth the risk to be in that type of environment.

I've seen it twice recently (2 different gyms). 

Once on a short bald black dude (looks about 40ish)...his was in "ok" shape, nothing to be in awe over.

And the other is this little older white woman about 50-55 years old) who is clearly on HGH (she's super lean, has the tight GH belly and wears mid-drift tops with low rise tight workout pants).

I think the likely answer is that they suffer from some type of social anxiety.  The sunglasses put a protective barrier between them and others making it easier for them to relax in social settings.  I have an older woman at my gym who does this.  She looks like Stevie Wonder when she's "zoning" on the elliptical.  They have to know they look like jackasses, but maybe its the only way they are able to leave the house.

Could be very very true but only in a small amount of cases. I actually have a friend who is the same way about wearing a hat. I swear he hasn't gone anywhere in about 2-3 years without a hat on and if you ever try to fuck with him and take it off he freaks out. He even admits it's a type of social disorder, all the time when he is with me and his other closest friends he feels a needs to wear it.

If I go in on Saturday afternoons, I wear them as there's a lot of glare even inside the gym. The whole thing is glass-fronted. 

If I see any older women with enormous breast implants looking at me funny, I lower my sunglasses and give them a nasty look... like myob, grandma.
