What's next for the 2008 season? Are you still hosting the Olympia this year and making an appearance at the USA?

Tom shared his Advil.

Thankfully for Bob, he took fewer than Tom.

I'll be doing quite a bit of hosting...Boise EXPO this week, Manion's Pittsburgh show early May, NY PRO, Rochester show in June, Houston Pro in July,  USA webcast, Europa Pro webcast, Dexter Jackson's show in August, Olympia weekend.... add that to the usual appearances, booth work, Video series, cut with Glass series, etc, etc....

Other than that....not much

Since you and Tom were close, do you have any regrets (as a friend) that you didn't help him make better choices during his bodybuilding career re his health?

Only in that hindsight is 20/20...Tom was very smart...TOO smart for his own good, which got him into trouble.

Bob, do you feel that the late 90's / early 2000 were a "crazy" era "supplement wise" and that the present and future are more "conservative" and that we've learned from others mistakes?

no question about it...

I won't name names but I recall being at Venice Gold's and spotted a couple of guys with nothing to brag about except obviously syntholed arms and juiced enough to make a Jack Lalane jealous....

After chatting with the "phenomenons" I quick realized these guys never competed and never will.... so why put your body through it. Last September I saw the same little click all deflated also with a different attitude but still lifting.

Moral of the story? Fashion comes and goes and "size at all costs" has past.

True..although they were only ever second/third- tier bodybuilders.

What is amazing is that TP himself, on this very board I may add, said that it would be impossible for him to get below 250.

If I remember correctly, Tom said that pain reliever usage is what caused his demise....any idea how much he was ingesting?

I have heard/read that too much NSAIDs can cause problems but everyone seems to be quoting different dosages....

he admitted it was handfuls each day... advil all day long for the pain.

200 mg a day isn't a good thing... and that's 1 small pill.  if you have some degenerative condition, you take it.  Some people take it a few times a day.

TP could have been any toxic combination of things.  And when you toss in the fact that his problem got worse/hospitalization right before that Ironman show he was dieting for, you have to wonder if he'd have been fine by just being a regular ol' offseason bodybuilder... if the deprivation and diuretics did it.
