Michelle Obama, Give a piece of their pie.
« on: April 11, 2008, 06:59:27 PM »
"Americans don't want much. They don't want the whole pie, there are some who do, but most Americans feel blessed just being able to thrive a little bit. but that is becoming even more out of reach."

"If we don't wake up as a nation with a new kind of leadership...for how we want this country to work, then we won't get universal health care, the truth is, in order to get things like universal health care and a revamped education system, then someone is going to have to give up a piece of their pie so that someone else can have more."

“Everywhere I go, no matter what, the women in the audience, their first question for me is, ‘How on earth are you managing it, how are you keeping it all together?’” “I know we’re spending — I added it up for the first time — we spend between the two kids, on extracurriculars outside the classroom, we’re spending about $10,000 a year on piano and dance and sports supplements and so on and so forth”

Michelle Obama income for 2005= $316,962, (doesn't include other income)

pssst: Umm, ...based upon your self-reported annual household income of $300K,
...you might actually find yourself on the receiving end of some pie.

The pie she's referring to, is the piece owned by huge multi-nationals and those in 7 - 8 figure income range.

Oh... okay... so it's wrong if anyone tries to take my pie but I can take someone elses?

Yay redistribution of wealth.  :P

I wish you're right jag, but its nearly certain Obama would be increasing taxes and taking away from upper middle income Americans to feed inefficient programs that do not change values or work ethics.  Redistribution of wealth is not fair and will not change the increasingly poorer work ethic, values or productivity of many Americans.  From your own posts....its about educating people.  Handouts do not educate or change behaviors, we've tried this already.
We have a major problem in the US with plummeting work ethic, the "I deserve" mentality, broken families, broken public education systems and a slow influx of immigrants that are not helping to make America great, like other generations of immigrants have done before.  Culturally, we have more problems than ever and I don't see it turning around.  Then the overspending and borrowing of both democrats & current republicans...it seems to me America is loosing its position as a superpower.
