People profile groups, and rightfully so.  If everyone says the same things about Newfies not being very smart, I'm compelled to believe there is some truth to it (or a lot of it), speaking from a genetic point of view.  Much as the "stereotypes" regarding so many other groups are largely based on fact and pretty accurate generalizations.  Having said that, anyone who can read my posts and not understand that I am an exception to this rule, are themselves not a very bright person.  It would be like saying Thomas Sowell isn't very smart just because he's black, or that Noam Chomsky is a human parasite just because he's Jewish.  There are indeed exceptions, even to what may otherwise be historically accurate generalizations.

TA for example who is allegedly Jewish, does indeed meet so many stereotypically (and historically accurate) Jewish characteristics: selling hot air, making fraudulent claims, perpetuating said fraud.  But I don't meet any Newfie stereotypes.

I might be, but what particular Newfie stereotypes are you referring to?  It is oft joked about that Newfies are not very smart.  I know Americans will joke about Canadians not being very smart, and Canadians think of Newfies the same way Americans think of Canadians, lol.  I speak for averages of course.    Newfies may be the butt of a lot of jokes on "the mainland" as Newfies call it, but I don't think a lot of Canadians harbour any serious resentment for Newfies.
