For the greater part of its existance the UN acted as a buffer to keep out commie influence, but now that threat is gone. In a way, they're purpose wasn't really to help anybody.

These days, the UN isn't shit if its most powerful member goes about doing its own thing.. You brought up the point of us ignoring the wmd stuff and going in anyway.

Kinda funny to me how the pope's visit here is hailed as great, but if the pope were running as a presidential candidate, then he'd probably be coined a lib by some. hahaha If only the bible belt could take a page out of the Pope's book and realize how full of shit this whole Iraq war is, but they're far too stupid. I don't really understand where their bitterness comes from.

What makes you think that just because someone is from the "Bible Belt" they support the war?

A lot of them vote for Republican candidates because of their religious views about abortion and their distrust of socialist politicians.

Trust me on this, they're outright disgusted with the politicians on both sides of the aisle.
