Hey candidizzle, plz help Bulking ratios
« on: April 18, 2008, 04:34:32 PM »
Hey  u seem pretty knowledgeable on nutrition, and i know for a time u advocated high fat high protein low carb, but now ive seen u are advising using more carbs. Im trying to Bulk up, however i feel that whenever i up the carbs too much, i tend to gain alot of fat. what ratios do u suggest for gaining lean body mass.

Thanks  :D

well, first off let me thank you for holding me in such high regards.

im ogin to be feeling like a million bucks for at least a few days.  ;D

honestly, i am sort of stealing form other guys...older more knowledge nutrition guru's..

but heres what i think is good ratio for a meal

50 g protein
25 g fat
50 g carbs

this is a whole lot of calories and energy to consume, and the key is choosing low glycemic carbs, and healthy fats and lean proteins.

i like this combo of 98% lean ground beef, black beans, and olives.    cook this on a stove with some chili powder, garlic, onion, maybe some cayenne, some cumin seed..   that would be a very good outline of what a bulking meal should look like.

and of course, cut out the carbs the last meal before bed.

I eat this a lot.   2 Cans Black Bean.  2 lbs diet lean beef and maybe a can of mexican corn.  2 packets of taco seasoning.  Cook that shit together.

Mix in a bowl with lettuce, Tomato, sour cream.  good stuff

nah no need to count calories.   if you start to put on fat, just focus more on green vegetables.

you dont need more than 5 meals a day... if you were dieting then i would say eat as many meals as possible (faster metabolism), but you actually want your metabolism to be runnning a little bit slower than normal when trying to put on weight...so your body can utilize some of those nutrients.

if you eat 4 clean meals per day, and one cheat meal per day, then your good.

just dont binge. moderation in everything (except protein!!!  ;) )

if your worried about fat gain i would avoid fat and carbs at the same meal, there biochemistry is super synergistic for fat storage.

smokepole,,,,   yeah we were discussing tat on another thread...   but after seeing that fats+carbs is recommended by MANY guru's as a great way to set up meals (along with protiein of course..)  i looked into insulin and fats...sicne i always thought it was commoon knowledge that insulin caused the storage of ingested fats as well as the carbs...   i guess what actually happens, accoring to the sources i looked up (many of them, plus i asked it directly to two nutritionists(educated with degrees), is that insulin just shuts off the hormones for releasing body fat, "lipolysis", BUT, it does not make you incapable of burning fats hat are already in the blood stream (ingested fats)..    unsaturated fats will not be stored as a result of moderate releases in insulin..(moderate-low glycemic carbs)..     where as saturated fats are much morwe likely to be stored.

Can you elaborate smoke? That is kinda vague....

Which kind of fats and what kind of carbs?

I would think a lower gi carb (brown rice) and a healthy fats (almonds) and lean protein (chicken) would make a better glycemic load?  :-\

it would, however fat in general, say fat from meat is easily digested into glycerol and FFA by lipases and is quite a simple process, an insulin increase will cause glut transporters to store the fat easier in the adiopocyte. Some fats seem to decrease insulin sensitiivty while others enhance it.fat and carbs generally increase lipogensis through a multitude of mechanisms, what i have stated is quite simplified as polyunsats like fish oil increase bmr, and lipolysis, but carbs combined will blunt the process. your goal is proper nutrient partionining, that is stimulating glut4 to intake glucose into the sarcomere and increase glycogen storage, while shunting it away from adiopocytes. Fat will shift it towards adipocytes quite simply.

fat, protein and carb protein meals are likely to result in perferred nutritent partioning.

this is very simplified

Fat is way to high and carbs to low

slin, dog, he didnt ask you..   ;)

and no, your incorrect...  he said he was carb sensitive, so reducing the carbs and using fats in place makes sense, and actually will be better for building muscle
