I'm hoping to finally get a fucking bike this summer. Going to start with a 600 though. Leaning towards a GSX-R600 or a R6.

i would never recommend a Suzuki for a beginner, they are too top heavy. go with the R6 or the Honda cbr600(my favorite 600).they have a very low center of gravity, and makes the whole learning process easier.and just for the record i believe hondas have the most rider friendly sportbike ever made.

Can't say I know too much. I was leaning towards an R6 anyway. I like their looks the best. My buddy who had an R1 and then an 05 Raven was telling me that before 04 the Yamaha's had a shorter front which made them pretty hard to ride. You know anything about that? It seems the Yamaha's depreciate less than the other ones.

Sorry to derail your thread. Don't get to talk about bikes too much

you cant go wrong with a yamaha, and dont get a 600 just because it is your first bike(mine was a hayabusa).i have owned 11 bikes since i was 17 and must say if i ever got a 600 it would be a honda, but if you want a R1 go ahead and get it.because it is a hell of allot more comfortable to ride than the R6.

and i am the same way about bikes,i love them.so if you ever have a question just ask me or chaos and between the two of us we might be able to come up with a answer.

as far as the front end goes, unless you are racing you will never notice it.

I wanted to do that for a while but then I always end up reading stories by people talking about how these young kids always end up with their brains splattered and shit when they get 1000's. I used to read a bike forum (can't remember the name), and they were saying that everyone should start on a 250 for their first season. Now that I figured was just playing on the safe side.

I see the assholes around campus whipping around on them. Some 300 pound or so fag almost drove right into the back of the shuttle bus one time. Was pretty funny to say the least.

I don't think you need a 250, it depends on your experience on two wheels, IMO.

dude there is nothing wrong with getting a 1000 as your first bike,as long as you have a good head on your shoulders.the speed and power of the bike isnt the issue either like people seem to think,it is the simple fact that 1000's are a bigger(and wider)bike so learning the corners takes a little longer.

like i said my first bike was a hayabusa, and with everything moderation is involved.so once i learned(really fucking quick)that the hayabusa wasnt a punk.that fear was set in,just take it to a big open parking lot and figure it out before you hit the road.

i am currently teaching another officer how to ride his first motorcycle, and it is a R1 and he is doing fine.

so what i am trying to say is stay out of the throttle(until you figure it out)and just learn the corners.

Hahaha, definitely wasn't going to go with a 250. Was just leaning towards the 600 with all the shit I hear. I feel like I'm capable of not riding like an asshole and getting myself killed. Going to look into it once this semester ends.

Ive always liked bikes but I know Im "that guy" who would be doing everything safe and sensible to a T, only to have some Grandma plow me over in her SUV and leave little pieces of me all over the road.

plus my girl had someone very close to her in the past killed on a streetbike :-\

you can't ride a thousand straight away

learn your throttle control on a 600

a heavy right hand can make you dead on a thousand

i would always recomend a gsxr they are very neutral that or a cbr 600rr

yamahas are a little track focused if you want to ride on a road
